Foundation for Mind-Being Research 30th Anniversary Year At our October 22 nd Meeting, we will have a panel on WHAT IS A NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE? A near-death experience or NDE is a profound spiritual event that may occur to a person who has died and either chose or was told to return, or was close to death or who is not near death but in a situation of physical or emotional crisis. An NDE may begin with an out-of-body experience—a very clear perception of being somehow separate from one’s physical body, possibly even hovering nearby and watching events going on around the body. The effects of an NDE are often life-changing, and its details will typically be remembered clearly for decades. Our October 22 NDE panel will describe their personal near-death experiences and share insights. Nadia McCaffrey , http://www.north-ca-iands.org/NDES.html, has had three NDEs and is featured in over 30 documentaries. Yolaine Stout is the founder of ACISTE (American Center for the Integration of Spiritually Transformative Experiences) and former president of IANDS (International Association for Near- Death Studies). Ellie Schamber , PhD, has spoken at IANDS and other organizations. The three near- death experiencers will share their stories, discuss NDE research and answer questions. Yolaine will show clips from her upcoming documentary called “Back to Life: Six Challenges Faced by Near-Death Experiencers.”: Topics of this presentation will include: Scientific evidence regarding NDEs Are people who ‘die’ and have NDEs really dead? Life-changing experiences and enhanced abilities (ESP,PK) after a NDE The Aware Project (Awareness through Resuscitation) The panel will be hosted by Bill Virga, M.A. Transpersonal Psychology and FMBR member. WHAT IS A NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE?

A near-death experience or NDE is a profound spiritual event that may occur to a person who has died andeither chose or was told to return, or was close to death or who is not near death but in a situation ofphysical or emotional crisis. An NDE may begin with an out-of-body experience—a very clear perception ofbeing somehow separate from one’s physical body, possibly even hovering nearby and watching eventsgoing on around the body. The effects of an NDE are often life-changing, and its details will typically beremembered clearly for decades.

Our October 22 NDE panel will describe their personal near-death experiences and share insights.

Another Path

Can you remember those wild adventures you experienced as a child? The parks and forests filled with mystical creatures, theability to fly thousands of miles away in your mind, and your dreams of other worlds and dimensions that were just as real, if notmore real than this one. All of this you were told, and eventually believed, was imaginary. Do you remember what the world feltlike back then? These feelings and experiences may not be just childish fantasies.

Young children are much more perceptive than adults and have access to a wider spectrum of informational interactions, whichcan include other planes and worlds of existence. Those of us interested in paranormal human abilities know of many abilities thatare possible for people with a slightly wider spectrum of perception, which fall under the umbrella of “psychic” abilities. Thesecan start with intuition and premonitions. Then there is seeing in many forms, both internal and external, including seeing energystreams and fields (like auras), remote viewing, foreseeing the future and so on. There can also be an expanded awareness of thethinking processes leading to telepathy. Also, other senses can be expanded such as the sense of smell, sound, taste, and touch. Thelast one is most interesting since a person can begin to feel his own organs and tissues on a much deeper level leading to a sense ofother structures both within and around the body. This brings us to human energetic structures.

If a person's perception begins to expand and self-exploration leads him around his own body, he will discover numerous differentstructures, which are a continuation of the physical body and directly affect the health and consciousness of a human being. Thereare a number of sets of energetic channels that run within the body and are capable of passing very intense energy currents. Anexample of these would be the channels that run through the arms and legs. Next there are a number of centers of energytransformation present within and around the body; these are often referred to as chakras. Examples include ones in the area of thechest and the forehead. There is also a complex system of tiny energy tubes that run within and around the body called themeridians. These meridians also carry energy in and out of the organism. Once discovered, a person can learn to work with, startprocesses within, and perform actions with these energy structures. An example would be bio-energetic healing or altered vision.

The truth is that all of us are given these many incredible gifts that are woven into our biology by nature but we, by our ownignorance, do not use them.

By consciously exploring these forgotten parts of our being, we open the door to a world from which we are hiding -- behind ourinformational overloads, technological advances and fear of ourselves. So there is no need to “imagine,” as reality is much deeper, richer, more exciting and full of life than anything we can possibly imagine--although at times it can be scary.

We should be careful when we tell our children that they are imagining things. They may be seeing things much clearer then weare. All that we as adults need is a desire to take a step back towards ourselves and begin to explore our own body, our energeticstructures.

The world is changing and it’s not clear in which direction but I would prefer to be around people who are simpler, brighter, andcloser to nature, like children. This is why I work with my energetic structures and hope that more people will begin to be a littlemore sensitive towards themselves and the world by following the same path. There is so much in the world that is worthprotecting. Not for ourselves or our children but simply because it exists. I hope that by changing ourselves, our energeticstructures, and becoming stronger trees in the forest we can collectively withstand any difficulty that may be ahead of us andindividually be able to look at ourselves with contentment.

There are many institutions in the U.S. and the world addressing these issues. For example, in Russia there is a unique place wherepeople have been doing what I have just described for over 20 years. It’s called the Institute of Biosensory Psychology, St.Petersburg, Russia - a Private Education Institution for Additional Professional Education. I have participated and studied at thisInstitute. The founder of the Institute is Vladimir Tonkov who is a leading figure in the field of human natural abilities and arecipient of a world record in the category "the largest number of people taught in the shortest amount of time the skills oftelekinesis (moving objects without contact)" - several hundred in the past two years. These people look like regular people andyet you can tell them apart by a little spark in their eyes and a full-of-care attitude towards the world, which is evident in theirevery move. While interacting with them you feel no need to pretend or fear. It's an interesting feeling when you can just beyourself. This is the way you feel with people who are not critical and judgmental toward you.

There is now a wonderful web portal where studies are available over the internet on many deep and interesting subjects. Pleasevisit www.en.metaporal.ru for more information.

The Foundation for Mind-Being Research was established in1980 to assist in the evolution of consciousness studies and tohelp bring this new field into wider recognition as a bona fidescience. The interdisciplinary nature of the field is reflected in theactivities of the organization and in the breadth of interests of itsmembers who currently represent areas of engineering, science, medicine, the humanities, and the arts. With its major focus onfacilitating the development of an integrated model ofconsciousness, the Foundation provides encouragement andresources to a rather unique group of creative researchers andscientists with the objective of betterment of the individual, thesociety, and the environment.

Because of the special nature of scientific inquiry in this area, the Foundation is interested in building its regular membershipwith competent individuals who:

▪ Are open to a multidisciplinary approach to knowledge▪ Recognize they are an integral part of any experiment▪ Know and are prepared to extend their own levelconsciousness
