Why do artists use them? The aim of a Digipak is to promote the sales of an artists. However due to this day and age lots of people download their tracks. Digipaks give fans a more aesthetic experience. The buyer will enjoy the exclusive pictures/artwork you get in the pack as well as extras some artists may include in their Digipaks. Digipaks promote the artist by forming a brand identity. It will represent them in a particular way showing a more personal side to the artist and connecting with fans. The Digipak will also be designed to its particular genre and target audience.

Digipaks and their Genres. Each genre has particular traits shown in their digipaks so audiences easily know what genre it is. Some Digipaks can go again these conventions but most at least stick to one.

Typical to the pop genre, lots of bright colours are used (reds and pinks) the star image is used massively and there is some kind of sex appeal to its male audience.

Typical to an indie band the digipak uses low key grungy colours. Constantly showing their bands logo. The album is very simple.

Typically to DJ’s the star image is not used however a logo or trade mark is always seen on the album somewhere. In this case it’s the drawn faces.
