What’s a Bugle?

A stripped down trumpet, keyed in G, with enough power to penetrategunfire, stampedes, explosions, and yes,  even boredom!

Page 5: What is a Bugle?

We only play G bugle horns. This means that the horns are pitched in the key of G, not B flat or F like marching or concert style bands.

Our G Bugles also have a larger percentage of conical tubing as opposed to cylindrical tubing. This allows the horns to be played much louder without sounding strained. Our Bugles are designed to be played outdoors and project in a way that most brass instruments can not match.

Most of our horns are fully chromatic with 3 valves.  Although, we do still have a couple of old 2 valve and valve rotor horns currently in use.

So if you miss your Drum Corps days gone by and remember how much you enjoyed performing, but for one reason or another you gave it up? You went to college, moved, had job responsibilities, got married, started a family, or just plain aged out?

Now is the time to come back and enjoy yourself.  There are no  summer trips, no long bus rides, or competitions every weekend.  We just perform for our own enjoyment, as well as for the public. Come check us out at rehearsal.
