What have I learned this year?

Decimals

• In decimals I learned the place values in a number.

• The first number after the decimal is the tenths place. 0.8 means 8/10.

• The second number after the decimal is the is the hundredths place.

• Similes are sentences that describe something.

• EXAMPLE: His room is as smelly as a dirty pig.

• As and like make a sentence a simile.

• The outer ear collects sound waves and sends them to the eardrum.

• The ice age was a time when glaciers melted.

• In reading we are reading, In the Year of the Boar and Jackie Robinson. So far a girl named Bandit changed her name to Shirley. When she came to America , everyone made fun of her. Then a girl named Mabel stuck up for her. Read the rest of the book to find out what happens.

• Multiplication is very simple once you learn it.

• If the problem is 3x3, the problem solver adds 3+3+3. You get 9.

• Being persuasive means to make someone do something.

• Opposite poles attract

• Like poles repel

• In 1664 he wanted to put up a fight against other people because John Cabot sailed to New Netherland 150 years earlier.

• He told his people about the fight but they did not want to, so they just surrendered.

• A food web is a chain that continues and it is about animals eating other animals.

• If 1 animal in the food web gets extinct, a few populations of animals will go down.

• Also, a few populations of animals will go down.

• George Washington was America’s first president.

• His solders beat the British in Trenton and Princeton

• Dragon is a cat in a book called Mrs. Frisby and The Rats of NIMH.

The rats try to put sleeping powder in his bowl so he can fall asleep.

Too bad they got captured by Dragon.
