But this isn’t a list of things you give to others on their birthday or during the holidays – this is a wish list designed specifically for you. These are your gifts; the most important kind of all – the gifts you give yourself.

§  We all know how important teamwork can be; how vital a knowledgeable mentor or passionate co-worker can be to both our collective and individual success. The coach who gets you out of bed early every morning and out on that track – when it’s the last thing in the world you want to do. The professor who grills you on every question as if it’s the most important on the test – because it could just be.

§  But at the end of the day, it’s you standing on that starting line – you’ve got to run the race for yourself; it’s you with the # 2 pencil in your hand – you’ve got to pass or fail that test on your own merits. Others can help us on this path called “life,” but it’s up to us to take each individual step on our own – for better or worse.

§  If I were making “the list before the list,” I would say that personal accountability is the prequel to the 10 items I’m about to offer you in this self-help blog; you have to be ready to receive them, up for reading them and, most important of all, personally accountable for implementing them in your daily life; otherwise, they’re all but useless.
