Why is it important to know yourself?
If you don't have a realistic concept of yourself it's hard to become a mature person; when people are unaware of their strengths and needs they may find it difficult to figure out what they want to do with their lives; when people are unsure of who they are and what they believe, they often have trouble making decisions and may be easily influenced by others.

SummaryThe main ideas from this topic are:• Selfconcept is what we think and know
about ourselves. No one is born with a selfconcept. It is created during a person's life.
• Selfesteem is what we feel about ourselves and how we evaluate ourselves.
• Developing a clear and realistic selfconcept is a long project requiring reflection on our life experiences, learning from them and growth in our understanding of ourselves.
We are now going to complete reflection sheet #1
