Ext.4220 In Language Arts these
coming weeks we are
learning the sounds for oi,
and ue and we will be
reviewing all our sounds
after the week holiday.
We now have gone over
all the letter sounds and
the students are learning
to blend them together to
form words . We have a
few more two letter
sounds left, and then we
will be looking at tricky
words and sight words.
Each sound has an action,
even the two letters to-
gether we are learning
now. They are continuing
to practice printing the
letters in their Jolly
Phonics book. We will be
finishing up dinosaurs
this week, with a small
culminating activity on
Thursday Feb. 21 for the
PM class, and Friday Feb.
22 for the AM class. Our
next theme is ALL ABOUT
ME AND MY FAMILY.
We are continuing our
home reading If you feel
your child is ready to move
up to a higher level, please
send in a note with their
reading and we will send
home the next level book if
available.
The Thursday theme bags
have gone out for two
weeks now, and with the
week off we will NOT be
sending a bag home on
Thursday since many peo-
ple will be gone. However,
if you will be home and
will have time, please send
a note or an email and we
will gladly send home a
Thursday bag on the 21st.
In math we are starting 2D
and 3D shapes, so when it
is your child’s turn to be
special helper, please help
them find something that
is NOT a toy, and that can
be described as a sphere,
cube, rectangular prism,
cylinder or cone.
The weather is hopefully
warming up so we can go
outside, but we will still be
using the gross motor room
as well

We enjoyed our Olympics on
January 31st. We were in dif-
ferent coloured teams to repre-
sent each country. Each coun-
try won a different event from
the Humpty Dumpty puzzle
race, to the twinkle twinkle
little star sort, mother goose
waddle, jack be nimble candle
jump and the hey diddle diddle
spoon race. We are now in the
midst of discovering dinosaurs,
and have been digging, draw-
ing, reading, measuring and
learning about dinosaurs. Val-
entine’s Day had us doing different heart
stations and we will soon be tackling All
about me. To see photos, check out the
website .

We will be having a sledding day with the
other kindergarten class, hopefully this

approved and we are sure the weather will
be warm enough.
I have a few copies of “Handwriting without
tears” which is a program I have used in
other years. If you are interested in a copy
to help your child practice printing at home,
let me know and I will send it home.
