Some First Nations and Métis peopleuse the purple coneflower for painrelief. Today, you can also buy purpleconeflower (Echinacea) pills at stores asa remedy for the common cold.
Tobacco is sacred to most Cree [Nehiyawak] people.They offer it to Mother Earth in return for harvestedplants. They also use it in ceremonies of the smokingof the pipe and when sharing stories.
Some First Nations andMétis people createpatterns by bitingbirchbark. This is usedfor decorating clothingmade from animalskins. Today, birchbarkbiting is an art.
Most First Nations and Métis people used tomake canoes out of birchbark. They usedspruce tree roots and spruce gum or sap tohold the bark together.
