Feminicides• Ciudad Juarez, border town neighboring El Paso, TX• 370+ serial murders of women since 1993• Women are of a similar height and weight, shoulder length
dark hair.• Work primarily in Maquilas and often go missing when leaving
work.• Police investigations have been mismanaged (evidence lost or
mishandled). • Few arrests or prosecutions.• Little investigation.• These serial feminicides are still unsolved.

How is the globalization of industrial capital linked to violence against women in the case of feminicide in Ciudad Juarez?
Trafficking in Women• The recruitment,
harboring, movement, or obtaining of person by force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of involuntary servitude, debt bondage, or slavery.
• Women do all kinds of work
• In Thailand trafficking is huge industry that is equivalent to 50-60% of the Thai govt’s annual budget.

Gonzaga fit in the system of global capital? What resources do we take for granted here that might be causing human and environmental suffering elsewhere? How does it make you feel?
• Write a poem, collectively, about the impact of Gonzaga’s global economic/environmental footprint, designed to encourage action on the part of your classmates.
