• Government waived the custom and other duties

• PIA was advised not to charge any demurrage

• PIA also absorbed Security and Airport Handling Charges

• PIA accorded priority to relief gods over revenue cargo

PIA developed a LIFE BOX which provides high energy food & liquids to sustain a four

member family / group for 2-3 days each

• Acute shortage of Pallets & Containers due to delay in off loading

• 3 and 5 Ton Fork Lifters and Towing Tractors were acquired on rental basis to quickly get those off loaded and put onto service on aircraft

One Helicopter crashed in a lake


Two PIA Boy Scouts were also there onboard the helicopter


Some injuries were there but all survived

the morale of the parents of young Scouts

World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM)

Resolution 17/2011 in Brazil The Conference urged all NSOs to respond urgently to any national/international emergency such as natural and man made disasters and to be able to coordinate with sister organizations, and hence, always remaining prepared to respond in an effective manner. The Resolution also encourages the World Scout Bureau to work in partnership with aid agencies to provide coordination, and technical & professional support to NSOs
