The subscriber management unit (SMU) of the

Authentication Management

The HLR9820 supports the following two kinds of authentication:

GSM Authentication

UMTS Authentication


GSM Authentication

Authentication Triplet

Authentication triplet is a vector composed of three parameters for subscriber

authentication in GSM networks. The three parameters are:

Random challenge (RAND):

Signed response (SRES) :

Cipher key (KC):


GSM Authentication

ᡈData Stored in the SIM Card

Embedded data

It contains international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI), KI,

authentication algorithms. These contents are unchangeable.

Temporary network data

It contains TMSI, LAI, KC, and the related data of the barred

services in the PLMN.

UMTS Authentication

ᏘAuthentication Quintet

The UMTS authentication uses UMTS authentication quintet,

which consists of RAND, expected response (XRES), cipher key

(CK), integrity key (IK), and authentication token (AUTN).


UMTS Authentication

ᡈThe authentication data stored in the USIM includes:

Authentication and encryption algorithms.

OP or OPc


UMTS Authentication

NOTE

Because the HLR9820 supports both OP and OPc, you need to store only one

in the USIM card. During the authentication, you need to enter OPc if the

MILENAGE algorithm is used. If you enter OP, OPc can only be obtained by

calculating. Based on efficiency and safety, you need to store OPc in the

USIM card.

The authentication data stored in the AuC includes:

Subscriber Management comprise:


Defining Subscribers

• The definition of a subscriber is to provide various services to a

subscriber. This section consists of the following contents:

1. Defining a Subscriber

2. Defining Subscribers with Consecutive Numbers in Batches

3. Defining Subscribers with Inconsecutive Numbers in Batches

4. Defining a Multi-MSISDN Subscriber


Defining Subscribers

You can define subscribers in the following two ways:

Run the command ADD SUB on the SMU client.

Set a template, and then run the command ADD TPLSUB on

the SMU client.

The subscribed services affect the performance and size of the HLR

database. It is suggested not to provide the services that are not

required.


Operation Procedure of Defining a Subscribers

1. Load Ki for the subscriber to be defined.

2. Select a service and set a service template as required.

3. Enter ADD SUB in the Command input box and set parameters

4. Press F9 or click .


Operation Procedure of Defining a Subscribers

Example

To define 100 consecutive subscribers and set the parameters as follows:

IMSI: 460880009000001, MSISDN: 8613900000001, Card type: USIM,

Number of subscribers: 100, Perform the following steps:

1. ADD KI: FNAME="addki.txt", K4SNO=2;

2. ADD SUB: HLRSN=2, IMSI="460880009000001",

ISDN="8613900000001", RECORDCOUNT=100,

CARDTYPE=USIM, DEFAULTCALL=TS11;


Subscriber Lock Management

The HLR9820 supports the following subscriber locks:

1. GSM lock

2. GPRS lock

3. Subscriber application barring (SAB) lock


Subscriber Lock Management

Example:

To query the lock status of the subscriber whose IMSI is

460880009123456, run the following command:

LST LCK: IMSI="460880009123456";


Deleting Subscribers (RMV SUB)

This task deletes a subscriber or multiple subscribers at a

time.

Once a subscriber is deleted, the mapping between the

MSISDN and IMSI of the subscriber is cleared.

Run the command RMV SUB on the SMU client


Reissuing a Card (MOD IMSI)

1. Load the Kis if necessary.

2. If necessary, create a batch operation file for card reissuing.

3. On the SMU client, run the command MOD IMSI to reissue

a card for a specific subscriber.

Operation Procedure


Changing an MSISDN ( MOD ISDN )

To change the MSISDN, perform the following steps:

1. If necessary, create a batch operation file for changing MSISDNs.

2. On the SMU client, run the command MOD ISDN to change the MSISDN.

Example:

Set a subscription template for 3G subscribers. The template

provides Telephony (TS11), MT-PP (TS21), MO-PP (TS22), and

Bearer service (BS20).

ADD SUBTPL: TPLID=2, TPLNAME=“subtests",

CARDTYPE=USIM, NAM=BOTH, CATEGORY=COMMON,

TS11&TS21&TS22, BS=BS20;


Example

To define an OFA template and set the parameters as follows:

Template ID: 2

Number prefix: 86755200

CF permitted: TRUE

Run the following command:

ADD OFATPL: TPLID=2, TPLNAME="OFATPL", PREFIX="86755200",

RULE=TRUE, DEFAULTRULE=FALSE;

OFA Template Management (ADD OFATPL)

The function of OFA is similar to that of the prohibited forwarding table.


GPRS Template Management (ADD GPRSTPL)

To simplify the GPRS services subscription, you can define a

GPRS template beforehand. The GPRS template defines PDP

Context parameters.

Example:

ADD GPRSTPL: HLRSN=2, TPLID=3, TPLNAME="gprstpl", CNTXID=2,

PDPTYPE=IPV4, RELCLS=ACKALLPRODT, DELAYCLS=DELAY2,

PRECLS=NORMAL, PEAKTHR=8000 OCT, MEANTHR=200 OCT,

ARPRIORITY=NORMAL, APN=”APN1”, VPLMN=TRUE,

CHARGE=PREPAID;


VLR/SGSN Roaming Restriction Template Management (ADD VSLIST)

The roaming restriction service management adopts the VLR/SGSN

template to restrict the subscriber's roaming area. The VLR/SGSN

template defines different VLR/SGSN numbers for roaming. The

VLR/SGSN roaming restriction data management helps query and

modify the VLR/SGSN template numbers, so as to query and modify the

VLR/SGSN area of a subscriber.

Example:

ADD VSLIST: TPLID=1, TPLNAME="china", TPLTYPE=VLR, VLRSGSNNO="86139",

ROAMRULE=PERMISSION, ROAMDEFAULTRULE=RESTRICT;


Network Maintenance Management

The network maintenance provides the following two functions:

1. System can simulate to send the Cancel Location message:

To send the Cancel Location message, run the command SND

CANCELC on the SMU client.

Example:

To send the Cancel Location message to SGSN 7777 without checking

whether the subscriber is defined in the HLR, run the following command:

SGSNO="7777", CHECK=FALSE;
