LOCAL OPTION ELECTIONS

There were thirty-two local option elections during the fiscal year ending August 31, 1982. Eleven elections were called to legalize the sale of all alcoholic beverages for off-premise consumption only; nine remained "dry" and two became "wet." Five elections were called to legalize the sale of all alcoholic beverages including mixed beverages; two remained "dry" and three became "wet." Seven elections were called to legalize the sale of beer and wine for off-premise consumption only; six remained "dry" and one became "wet." Three elect ions were called to legal i ze the sale of beer for off-premi se consumption only; three became "wet." Two elections were called to legalize the sale of mixed beverages; two became "wet." Two elections were called to legalize the sale of all alcoholic beverages excep t mi xed beve rage s; two became "wet. " One e1ect i on wa s called to legalize the sale of all alcoholic beverages except mixed beverages for on- or off-premise consumption; one remained "dry." One election was called to legalize the sale of all alcoholic beverages for off-premise consumption including mixed beverages; one remained "dry. "

ANGELINA COUNTY

City of Lufkin, Angelina County, on December 5, 19R1, voted 3,493 for "the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages for off-premise consumption only" and 3,897 against "the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages for off-premise consumption only." City of Lufkin, Angelina County, was "dry" before the election was held and remained "dry."

BE LL COli NTY

City of Harker Heights, Bell County, on September 1, 1981, voted 215 for "the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages including mixed beverages" and Ull against "the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages including mixed beverages." City of Harker Heights, Bell County, was Udry" before the election was held and became "wet" for the legal sale of all alco­holic beverages including mixed beverages.

City of Bayview, Cameron County, on September 12, 1981, voted 51 for "the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages including mixed beverages" and 1i0 against "the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages including mi xed beve rages." Ci ty of Bayvi ew, Cameron County. was "dry" before the election was held and remained "dry."

City of Brownsville. Cameron County, on November 7, 1981. voted 84 for "the legal sale of beer and wine for off-premise consumption only" and 56 against "the legal sale of beer and wine for off-premise consumption only." City of Brownsville, Cameron County, was "dry" before the election was held and became "wet" for the legal sale of beer and wine for off-premise consumption only.

CHAMBERS COUNTY

Preci nct No.1. Chambers County, on July 10, 1982, voted 138 for "the legal sale of mixed beverages" and 101 against "the legal sale of mixed beverages." Precinct No.1, Chambers County, was "dry" before the election was held and became "wet" for the legal sale of mixed bev­erage s.

Preci nct No.2, Chambers County, on August 14, 19R2, voted 99 for "the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages except mixed beverages" and 39 against "the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages except mixed bev­erages." Precinct No.2, Chambers County, was "dry" before the election was held and became "wet" for the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages except mixed beverages.

COLLIN COUNTY

City of Fairview, Collin County, on September 3, 19R1, voted 47 for "the legal sale of beer and wine for off-premise consumption only" and 265 against "the legal sale of beer and wine for off-premise consuMption only." City of Fairview, Collin County, was "dry" before the election was held and remained "dry."

City of Westminster, Collin County, on September 3, 1981, voted 49 for "the legal sale of beer and wine for off-premise consumption only" and 107 against "the legal sale of beer and wine for off-premise consumption only." City of Westminster, Collin County, was "dry" before the elec­tion was held and remained "dry."

City of McKinney, Collin County. on November 3, 19R1, voted 7,051 for "the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages for off-premise corisumption only" and 9,523 against lithe legal sale of all alcoholic beverages for off-premise consumption only." City of McKinney. Collin County, was "dry" before the election was held and remained "dry."

City of Altoga, Coll in County, on Jul y 10. 1982, voted Hi for "the 1ega 1 sale of beer and wi ne for off-premi se consumption only" and 95 agai nst "the legal sal e of beer and wi ne for off-premi se consumption only." Ci ty of A1toga, Collin County, was "dry" before the election was held and remained "dry."

City of Corinth, Denton County, was "dry" before the election was held and remained "dry."

City of Alma, Ellis County, on February 27, 1982, voted 42 for "the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages for off-premise consumption only" and 34 against "the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages for off­premise consumption only." City of Alma, Ellis County, was "dry" before the election was held and became "wet ll for the legal sale of all alco­holic beverages for off-premise consumption only.

City of Ferris, Ellis County, on August 28, 19M, voted 167 for "the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages for off-premise consumption only" and 406 against "the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages for off­premise consumption only." City of Ferris, Ellis County, was "dry" before the election was held and remained "dry."
