Tomorrow, Aug. 31, our Summer Book Conversations will conclude with God
Never Blinks by Regina Brett. Come to the Music Suite at 7 p.m.
Don’t Forget: Next Sunday we will return to our normal schedule: Bible study
at 9:45 a.m. and worship at 11.
FunDay School is fully staffed for September. Thank you! Pick a month to
volunteer and sign up on the board in the narthex. FunDay School meets at 9:45
every Sunday morning and involves elementary age children in meaningful Bible
study, music, crafts and games. Teachers volunteer to help for one month.
“Searching for Significance” is the theme of the Men’s Retreat this year, Oct.
24-25, to be held at Skycroft Conference Center in Middletown, MD. Cost is $95
per person. Sign up at the Welcome Center. Space is limited, so do it today!
A few reservations are still open for the Women’s Retreat, October 2-4 at
Middle Creek Bible Conference Center. The theme is “Wear the Shoes,” and
registration information is available at the Welcome Center. A deposit of $100 is
due at registration, and the full amount of $175 is due by Sept. 13.
Today is the last day to bring in donations of Back-to-School Items to help
ECHO provide school supplies for low-income families in our area. Find a list at
the Welcome Center and a bin in the corner of the narthex for donations. Thank
you for helping children in our area as they get ready for school.
Church Family Night Returns Wednesday, Sept. 9 with a cookout at 5:30 p.m.
There will be games for children and adults as well as wonderful food and
fellowship for all ages in the back parking lot. Bring a lawn chair! Make
reservations on forms in the pew racks, online at the church website, or through
the church office. Cost is $2.25 for children age 3 to 4th grade; $4 for 5th grade
and up; free for age 2 and under; $17 family maximum. Standing reservations do
not carry over from last year. Our regular CFN schedule, including children,
preschool, and youth activities, and adult seminars, begins Sept. 16.
Women on a Mission—The first WOM get-together will be at 10 a.m. on
Wednesday, Sept. 9 (AFTER Labor Day). Come and see what a difference a
group of women can make in the lives of others.
Signups to join Supper Club groups for the fall continue at the Welcome Center
through Sept. 13. Individuals and couples are invited to join, and lists will go out

Day/Night Bible Study begins Sept. 21-22 with a discussion of Mount and
Mountain: A Reverend and a Rabbi Talk About the Sermon on the Mount.
Monday sessions, led by Dr. Abernathy, begin at 10 a.m., and Tuesday sessions,
led by Rev. Gray, begin at 7 p.m. Get books at the Welcome Center for $10.
Fight Back with Joy by Margaret Feinberg will be the topic for the Women’s
Bible Study for six weeks starting Sept. 23. We will look at the many ways
God’s love and joy can help us fight life’s fiercest battles. We meet in Room
17/19 from 10-11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays. Books are $10, and child care is
available. Sign up at the Welcome Center.
Flower Dedication—The flowers in the sanctuary today are given to the glory of
God by Bruce and Sally Miller in honor of all teachers and their new school year.
