• Teaching hospitals have a culture of evidence based medicine based on research outcomes
• A top class research environment attracts the best doctors and establishes the best clinical units

• Worldwide healthcare is a business in which Western Sydney should participate
• e.g. biotechnology industries are established around outstanding medical research/teaching hospitals/university complexes, Stanford, Harvard – this is
happening in Australia especially Melbourne, Brisbane and Macquarie,
