Commandant’s Corner…..
We have just returned from the national
Marine Corps League convention in
Scottsdale Arizona. Needless to say tem-
peratures ranged from 95° to 111°. On the
day we were leaving the temperature was
to be 114°. It's a dry heat. Our past mem-
ber Marc Dunne Has transferred out of our
detachment and joined a detachment in
Florida.
The new national Commandant will be
Richard Gore. I feel he'll do an excellent
job and have the league back on track. A
large part of the meeting time was taken up
with bylaw changes. These meetings can
be long, but I feel a lot was accomplished.
The next national convention will be in
Tulsa, Oklahoma. Our past member Marc
Dunne has already made his reservations.
We have just completed three days of the Westfield fair, and will need a
few days to recuperate. The weather held out for us as it was predicted we would
have three days of rain, but it remained dry all three days. The lack of league mem-
ber participation was disturbing to say the least. I have trouble understanding why
membership will not help participate in some of these fundraising events. Our pay-
master will have a full report on the financial outcome of this event.
As we move into September it is my hope we can have the electrical work
completed and the new ceiling installed. I once we've completed these tasks I
would like to be able to have some form of open house at our barracks. If possible
perhaps we can invite some of the other detachments to come in for a visit. If you
would like to give some input into this idea not hesitate to contact me.
Our participation in the Veteran Council projects will consist of activities
on Veterans Day, and Pearl Harbor day. Once I have more information I'll pass
along.
We will start our regular meetings September 14 so let's try to have a
great turnout. Shortly we will have our nomination for new officers, followed by
elections next month.
God bless all our Marines in harms way!
Semper Fi!

Westfield Fair August 21—23, 2015
Once again the detachment operated its food
stand at the Westfield Fair. The weather forecast
indicated the possibility of rain but that never
happened. There was a good turnout at the fair
and business was good at our stand.
Thank you to all the members that were able to
help out.
