A powerful vision, led by Stantec’s Visioning, Branding and

Experiences group with RNL Architecture, was required to

encourage an established WU workforce to abandon familiar

working tendencies and methodologies in favor of an entirely

new paradigm for the workplace - with an unprecedented

emphasis on communication,innovation and collaboration.

Based on the notion that project teams which succeed socially

will likely succeed collaboratively as well, an entirely new

category of workspaces were created, which straddled the line

between social retreat zones and workspaces.

The newly fashioned workspace zones are in high demand and

have visibly enhanced opportunities for collaboration among

employees. Pride of place among campus workers has risen as

a direct result of the redesign. Efficiencies have been realized

by utilizing new spaces, both indoors and outdoors, as

opportunities for people to come together and collaborate.

From a visual celebration of the world’s currencies, to the large-

scaled environmental graphic stories of Western Union’s

customers, to the visually engaging Western Union story wall,

the high levels of craft and artistry present within the campus

environment succeeds in inspiring employees and visitors alike,

by conveying in great detail the remarkable accomplishments

of this venerable company.

The design team’s ability to capture and leverage the corporate

vision of Western Union into a three-dimensionally branded,

highly immersive, user-focused workspace has resulted in

measurable increases in employee collaboration, retention

and pride of place.
