– Revision includes enhanced Twist and Flex, Impact (direct buried), Resealability & Reusability testing
• Ongoing work for the next revision:– Performance Testing at 130o C– Modes of failure in various types of enclosures
Standards Subcommittees of ASC C119
• C119.4 Subcommittee On Connectors for Use Between Aluminum-to-Aluminum, and Aluminum-to-Copper Conductors Designed for Normal Operation at or Below 93oC and Copper-to-Copper Conductors Designed for Normal Operation at or Below 100oC
– Just published as C119.4-2011– Optional Salt Spray and Fault Duty Tests are
included in this revision• Ongoing work for the next revision:
– A Task Force is working on how to incorporate Shunting or Repair Devices into the C119 standards
Standards Subcommittees of ASC C119
C119.5 Subcommittee On Insulation Piercing Connector Systems, Rated 600 Volts or Less (Low-Voltage Aerial Bundled Cables and Insulated and Non-Insulated Line Wires) – This New Standard was published in 2009
as C119.5-2009 Ongoing work for the next revision:
Evaluate the possibility of including a salt spray contamination test
Standards Subcommittees of ASC C119
• C119.6 Subcommittee On Non-sealed Multi-port Connector Systems Rated 600 Volts or Less for Aluminum and Copper Conductors– A Revised Standard will be Published in the 2nd
Quarter of 2011 as C119.6-2011– Enhanced test criteria is included in this revision
• Ongoing work for the next revision:– Determination of test parameters for Pin Terminals– Evaluate the possibility of including a salt spray
contamination test– Evaluate the possibility of including a short circuit
test
Standards Subcommittees of ASC C119• C119.7 Subcommittee on High Operating
Temperature Connector Systems (Above 93oC) – A New C119.7-XXXX Standard is being developed– Phase 1 of a Joint ANSI C119.7 - EPRI Project for testing
the proposed high temperature test protocol is in progress
– Testing of ACSS, ACCR, and ACCC conductor–connector systems to validate the proposed test protocol is approximately 50% complete
– Phase 1 of the C119.7 – EPRI test protocol evaluation is scheduled to be completed in 2011
– EPRI is doing additional long duration (1,500 cycle) heat cycle performance testing and scientific evaluation of connector – conductor interface performance at high temperatures
– Phase 2 of the C119.7 – EPRI test protocol evaluation is being planned for 2012
Standards Subcommittees of ASC C119
• C119 Testing Methods and Directives Subcommittee
– This Subcommittee has the responsibility of evaluating and recommending improvements for test lab procedures that are common to all of the C119 Standards
– The Subcommittee continues to develop a Common Test Requirements Guide Document which will be published as a supplement as applicable to all the C119 Standards
