Baked Salt Dough TagsPerfect for Christmas gift tags or decorations

These fancy schmancy salt dough tags will add pizazz to any Christmas gift or tree this festive season PLUS they’re fun and easy to make too! If you have stamps with individual letters, you could also use these as name cards.

Here is what you do:• Preheat oven to 100°C• Mix dry ingredients• Add water• Mix, or get a couple of helpers to do the messy work• Roll to 5mm thick• Ink your stamp• Press stamp into dough• Press cookie cutter into stamped dough

• Place cut-out on a baking sheet• Using a skewer or straw, make a hole in the top of the tag• Bake in 100°C oven for six hours• Remove from oven• Sand edges• Add ribbon• Varnish

Here is what you need:• 2 cups of flour • 1 cup of salt • 1 cup of water • festive cookie cutters • stamps • ink pad • skewer or straw to make hole in tags • ribbon • sand paper • craft varnish

“Wacky Golf” ‘n Putt Putt baan met ‘n natuurlike aanslag, het eersdaags op Robertson geopen.

Die eienaar van Robertson Tuinsentrum, Corne le Roux, het gesê hy is baie opgewonde oor die nuut voltooide putt putt baan by hul tuinsentrum aangesien die publiek reeds vir maande uitsien na die opening daarvan. “Ons wil graag die Tuinsentrum omskep in ‘n bestemming vir die hele familie sodat oud en jonk dit sal geniet om ons te besoek.” Hy sê met die ontwerp was daar ‘n paar bepalende kriteria:• Moeilikheidsgraad. Die baan is van so aard dat ‘n kolhou (hole-in-one) bykans onmoontlik is. Die gemiddelde baansyfer is 3 houe en nie 2 houe soos by ander bane nie.• ‘n Natuurlike, organiese ontwerp. Die baan moes ‘n voel en vertoon soos ‘n regte gholfbaan en inskakel by die ontwerp van die res van kwekery en teetuin.• Pret! Die baan is ontwerp om uitdagend te wees, maar belangriker nog dat amateurs en ervare gholfers die baan sal geniet.

The real toffee apples A delicious treat for the kids, and one which they can help make too. Be extra careful with hot caramel and little fingers. Makes 10

Here is what you need:• 10 wooden skewers• 10 small Granny Smith apples• 500 g granulated sugar• 1 cup water• 5 ml vinegar• 45 ml golden syrup• 5 ml red food colouring

PreparationPlace a sheet of baking paper onto a baking tray. Insert a skewer into each apple, arrange the apples on the tray and set aside. Here is what you do:To Make the toffeePlace the sugar, water and vinegar into a saucepan over low heat and stir until all the sugar has dissolved. Then add the syrup and bring to the boil. Boil until the mixture reaches 150 °C on the sugar thermometer (this is the temperature test to follow when making hard crack caramel).If you don’t have a thermometer, test a little syrup by dropping a teaspoon of syrup into cold water. If it sets rock hard immediately it is ready. Remove from the heat and place the saucepan into a sink of cold water to cool the mixture. Once it has stopped bubbling,

add the red food colouring and swirl around until fully incorporated.

Dipping the applesDip the apples into the toffee syrup and swirl around until they are fully coated. Remove from the syrup and place onto the baking paper. Set aside until completely cooled and the toffee has hardened. Author’s tip: Wrap coloured twine or tie ribbon around the skewers and place the toffee apples on a wooden board. Based on the children’s book by Jeremy Daniel, this funny, moving and interactive audience experience which shows young people how to ‘be their own best friends’. My Forever Friend teaches children about friendship and the power of believing in themselves through music, mime and the magic of mirrors, and is perfectly pitched for the summer holidays. My Forever Friend is Jeremy Daniel’s

first book and is published in English and Afrikaans by Tafelberg Publishers, an imprint of NB Publishers.

THE SPRINGBOK EXPERIENCE The Springbok

Experience, the state of the art museum of

the South African Rugby Union situated at the V & A Waterfront

in Cape Town celebrated its first anniversary on Heritage Day, 24 September, The occasion was

marked by a visit of the Blitzboks Sevens Team who handed Kyle Brown’s Commonwealth Games jersey to the Experience for display amongst all the other national jerseys that celebrates South Africa’s diverse rugby heritage.

Since its opening, nearly 40 000 visitors had an opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the most iconic names in South African history as they meandered their way through the Experience. Like their heroes, a significant numbers has tried their hand at outsmarting and beating each other in playing the Hands-off Challenge. This game, one of the most popular in the interactive game section, called

the Springbok Trials Zone, has stumped many a competitor even some Springboks. Beyond the fun and games offered at the museum, the Springbok Experience given its unique place in South African’s sport history and local cultural - heritage industry and special atmosphere, has witnessed the launch and hosting of major corporate events. Notable amongst these were the send-off ceremony for the Queen’s Baton, the torch that travelled the Commonwealth prior to the opening of the Commonwealth Games. Similarly, the William Webb Ellis or Rugby World Cup Trophy visited the Experience in August on its tour throughout the world en route to the next tournament in 2015. The museum also serves as the natural home for the Currie Cup and Community and SA Cup trophies which are used in SARU’s national competitions. Logically, these events and the artefacts complementing them saw the facility being visited by some of the most high profile names in the athletics

and rugby world. The possibility of bumping into big name players from both the past and present has therefore become a standard occurrence at the museum. In addition the venue served as a space for interesting rugby and sport books and corporate social events such as teambuilding exercises and Amazing Races. Visitors to these events were not only able to get close and personal with both the objects and personalities associated with the subject matter covered between the pages and within and on display but were also afforded an unique opportunity to listen to history coming alive as they listened to first-hand accounts of historic and other events.

The Experience has also served as the base for the announcement and send-off of national teams such as the Junior Springboks, South African Women’s and Commonwealth Sevens teams. None of those that attended these events could have ever imagined them becoming part of the Springbok story legacy.

Om as God se verteenwoordiger hier op aarde op te tree en sy liefde uit te dra, is ’n onmenslike voorreg en ouers moet die verantwoordelikheid besef. Ouers moet die voorreg bewaar en dit nastreef met al die krag waartoe hulle instaat is – met ’n geskenk of sonder ’n geskenk!

Die eerste Suzuki handelaar het in 1968 in Worcester begin. Dit het twee keer of meer van perseel verander voor Bike Choice Worcester

begin het met sy bemarking en bestuur van die Suzuki handelsmerk in Augustus 2001. Bike Choice het sedertien ontwikkel in ‘n betroubare en goed gevestigde entiteit, wat blyk uit konsekwente winsgrense en stygende verkope.

Bike Choice Worcester begin sy

bedrywighede in 2001 met Mnr Schalk Fourie as die enigste lid van die beslote korporasie. Die besigheid het gegroei van besetting van ‘n 300 vierkante meter en met 4 personeellede in ‘n doeltreffend georganieseerde onderneming met ‘n huidige 11 personeellede.

Oor die jare het ons dit ons missie gemaak om al ons kliënte tevrede te stel en die beste diens moontlik te lewer. Buiten die vir die dienste en alle herstelwerke aan die

motorfietste; lewer ons ‘n verdere diens deur die fietse op te tel en weer af te lewer.

Ons dek ook ‘n redelike groot area vir dienste gelewer. Van die area’s wat ons dek is Piketberg, weer terug na Tulbagh, Ceres area. Dan weer gaan ons ook na Robertson area sover as Swellendam.

Ons probeer om so ver moontlik aan skoue deel te neem om die publiek meer bewus te maak van ons, asook aan al die fietse. Ons het tans ‘n demonstrasie week

gehad waar die kliënte die Suzuki V-Strom 650 & 1000 kon ry om die gevoel van die fietse te kry en dit was ‘n reuse sukses.

Ons daag die skoliere uit om hulle ouers te bring en hulle die fietse te

kom wys wat gepas is vir julle. Indien ons nie die fiets op die vloer het wat jy soek nie, sal ons die gepaste fiets

vir jou bestel.
