PROJECT EVALUATION

This project presented a number of very specific challenges. The incorporation of different building methods such as a traditional build area of the school, the steel structure and the TEK building system required careful coordination and consideration during the design and installation process.

Our structure was designed to eliminate the cold bridging issues usually associated with steel frame buildings.

The opportunity to work on a challenging project of this nature has offered K-Panels the opportunity to develop innovative solutions to apply TEK as a cladding system.

PROJECT SOLUTION

A TEK panel structure was developed to build up on the external side of the existing steel structure, the floor heights of approximately 4.5 meters meant panels were designed specifically to eliminate bowing or movement once fixed to the steel frame.

The original steel design was designed to support a Kingspan Offsite insulation cladding system, and so reactive innovative design detail was developed by the K-Panels design team to meet the very specific building requirements.

As the site was a live school site, particular attention was required regarding the observation of safe working practice, Henry Boot plc and K-Panels were able to work in partnership to ensure the project was completed without compromise to the safety of the schools pupils.
