It’s time to start the planning process. We have presented a good overview of what atypical Bat/Bar Mitzvah might consist of. On average the mitzvah reception is usually a4-hour affair. Note: If a Disc Jockey were to play music from beginning to end, thenumber of songs that could be played would be around 80.

Introductions - Many Bat/Bat Mitzvahs startoff with a bang. The doors are opened toupbeat music as the guests are invited intothe main room. The master of ceremonies/DJ can announce the family and the guestof honor. The guest of honor can come intothe room with her or his favorite song.

Candle Lighting - The purpose of the candlelighting ceremony is to honor the people whoare the most important. The usual order isgrand-parents, aunts, uncles, cousins,siblings, mom, dad and friends. Even animalsare honored with a candle. The usual amountof candles is 13 or 14. A variety of music canbe played for each dedication.
