Stephen Tarpley pitched seven innings of five-hit, one run ball for his fourth win of the season; all of which have come on the road. The Power backed Tarpley with a run in the second on a RBI single by Elvis Escobar, added a run on a sac fly in the third and made it a 3-0 lead in the fourth when Taylor Gushue singled home Jerrick Suiter from third. In the eighth, Michael Suchy hit a 3-2 pitch over the left field wall with Connor Joe on first for a 5-1 edge. Tarpley moved to 4-2 with his second straight quality start while Thad Lowry took the loss for the Intimidators. Jerrick Suiter went 3-3 with two ground rule doubles, a walk and two runs scored and Suchy finished with two hits and three runs batted in to lead the Power. BY THE DAWN’S EARLY LIGHT: West Virginia concludes a four-game series against the Kannapolis Intimidators tonight on the road. The Power hold a 59-57 lead in the all-time series and return to Kannapolis for a five-game series at Intimidators Stadium to close the 2015 season. West Virginia returns home to host Delmarva on Saturday. The left-hander, acquired from Baltimore in January, also holds a stellar 1.23 earned run average away from home this season. Tarpley’s next schedule start is slated for Tuesday’s homestand finale against Delmarva. AT THE TWILIGHT’S LAST GLEAMING: Austin Coley earned his tenth win of the season on Wednesday and became only the fourth pitcher in Power history to reach double-digit victories.
