When your children come home fromschool or the day care, they are probablyhungry. The first thing they may wantto grab is a handful of cookies and a bagof chips. Without spending hours in the

kitchen, why not try to make a few simplerecipes that your children will enjoy?

Top 100 Finger Foods, written byAnnabel Karmel, contains 100 recipesfor a healthy happy child. The recipes aresimple and easily prepared finger foodsthat you can safely introduce to your

babies and older children. This is one din-ner where using your hands, instead ofsilverware at the table is perfectly accept-able.

Tired of eating out? Do you find thesame old food on the menu? Try cook-

ing at home for a change. Author RickRodgers has put together a collection ofWilliams-Sonoma Comfort Foods. Thisbook contains warm and homey, rich andhearty meals your family will love.

ful book will get you on your way topreparing dishes like a fantastic QuicheLorraine. Now doesnt that sound deli-cious? Bon Appetit.

Grilled Mahi-mahi with fresh peachrelish, Harlem meat loaf, Sunday friedchicken, and Shrimp burgers are just a fewof the many recipes youll find in The LeeBros. Southern Cookbook. Discover howtwo boys learned to cook with a south-ern style without the help of a southerngrandmother. This is truly the cookbook

of the year. The award was bestowed uponthe Lee Brothers by the James BeardFoundation/Kitchen Aid book awards. This

book also contains stories for Southernersand would-be Southerners. They haveearned the respect of many, includingsome of the finest chefs in the world.

Speaking of brothers who like to cook,Jamie and Bobby Deen have put togetherquick and affordable meals the whole fam-ily will love. Creamy chicken alfredo, pastasalad with grilled chicken and veggies, andfor dessert, double strawberry shortcake

just to name a few. Im sure youve nodoubt heard of their mother, cooking iconPaula Deen. The boys followed in theirmothers footsteps and inherited a desireto cook. The vision thing hope for the futureIve been thinking a lot the last couple

of weeks about the whole vision thing strategic planning, community vision-ing, long-range planning and a dozenother terms used to describe the pro-cess of a group of people looking to thefuture.

In recent weeks the chamber board,

the City of Manistee, the farmers marketand the Onekama Planning Commissionhave all been working on long-rangeplanning and those are just the ones Iveparticipated in. Organization and com-munity planning stimulate us to look col-lectively toward a shared future imag-ining what could be.

Of course, anytime you bring two ormore people together, youre going to gettwo or more opinions about the perfectfuture. Thats not just to be expected its essential to a successful plan forthe future of a community.

When stakeholders have a hand inwriting a plan for the future, it naturallyfollows that theyll underwrite it as well

and its the resources of an entire com-munity that ensure a plans success.Without the support of the community, theres no plan only a fantasy.

Its extraordinary to watch the pro-ess in action and to participate in its well. You see committed, passionate

people contributing their opinions andsometimes disagreeing, but rarely beingdisagreeable.

Whats the plan for your group, orga-nization or community? Whats yourfondest hope for its future?
