L.O.E. UPCOMING SEPTEMBER

L.O.E. SEPTEMBER BIRTHDAYS

WEST CITRUS LADIES OF THE ELKS

Our State President, Suzi Simonelli,

has issued a challenge to each mem-

ber. That challenge is for each mem-

ber to bring in one new member this

year. I’m sure that we all can find

someone who would like to have

access to our dining room with its

great meals and our bar with our low

prices but let’s take the challenge a

step further. Let’s each bring in a

new member who will join us in our

efforts to make the world a better place for the more unfortu-

nate, the disabled veterans who are confined to living facilities,

the children who without us might never have a chance to attend

a summer camp, the scouting program the donations of food to

the food pantry and the list goes on. We are the premier patriot-

ic and charitable organization in our country. To continue our

order’s work we need likeminded people who will roll up their

sleeves and help, people who are interested in community ser-

vice.

MESSAGE FROM BRIAN ESTUS,

CENTRAL DISTRICT VICE PRESIDENT

The Veteran’s Committee has had a busy

summer. The Committee did an out-

standing job in hosting the 12th annual

breakfast for the Aaron A. Weaver Mili-

tary Order of the Purple Hearts and Gold

Star families on August 7, 2021.

This is our way to show our appreciation and honor to those

who have been wounded during service to our country. There

were many Citrus County dignitaries present including our

congressional representative Congressman Daniel Webster.

It was with great pleasure to present a check for $3,500.00 to

Greg Pelletier representing the new Citrus County organiza-

tion called “Bridge 4 Veterans” on August 11, 2021. These

funds will be used to supply and support many needs for our

local homeless veterans. We thank Kris Estus for applying

and receiving these grant funds awarded to our Lodge from

the Elks Grand Lodge.

The Veterans Committee will be holding their annual Dinner

Dance on Sept 25, 2021. We will have music and dancing by

“Solid Gold”. Tickets will go on sale on August 31st for

$17.00. A choice of roast beef or chicken cordon bleu, cock-

tails at 5:00 pm and dinner at 6:00 p.m. Tickets can be pur-

chased every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday till September

17th. This is always a fun event and a way to support our

veterans committee.

If you are interested in joining our committee, please call Jo-

anne Hepner at (352)212-8435. Our meetings are always on

the 1st Monday of every month at 10:30 am. All are wel-

comed.

Warm regards,

Joanne Hepner

27-GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING – 12:30PM

Hi LOE, first I want to say a big

Thank You to all of our members,

and their guests, who were able to

attend the Kick Off Luncheon.

There were 41 of us who attended. I

want to send a big Thank You to

Janet Porter, Jill Jerowski, Rick

Jerowski, Edna Pirmann and Eppie

Demchek for helping me set up,

pack up, and for handling the 50/50

raffle. You guys have a job for life.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. There are pictures of the

luncheon on the Action Around the Lodge section of the Lodge

newsletter. I also wanted to send a shout out to those who want-

ed to attend the luncheon but for health reasons, they were ad-

vised to stay home. Hopefully, we will be able to get together in

a safer environment soon.

We have a lot of activities happening. The Arts and Crafts

Show, Saturday October 16, 2021 is moving along very well in

the hands of Kathy Manning. Kathy tells me that there will be

new vendors this year. The show will be open on Friday, Octo-

ber 15, 2021 at the evening dinner service (4pm-7:30pm) in the

Lounge. Lodge Members and their guests can have a first

glimpse and purchase in advance of the Saturday show. We hope

that all of our members will come out and support the LOE. Also, the LOE Flea Market shed will be open again on September

11, 2021 from 9am-12noon. Teresa Jancura and her excellent

shed team will eagerly await you as you deliver your light used

items. I would like to encourage all of you to come to the general mem-

bership meeting on September 27, 2021 at 12:30pm. We have

quite a few items that will need your discussion and vote, so

please be present if you can.

Stay safe!

AMERICANISM COMMITTEE NEWS

We have some happy and uplifting news to report to our mem-bers. This summer our Lodge sponsored 25 children who attend-ed a total of 32 weeks at the Florida Elks Youth Camp. Funds to provide these sponsorships came from proceeds of prior years’ golf tournaments organized by Irv Hendren. Also, a very special THANK YOU to our Ladies of the Elks who sponsored six of the scholarships. This year we received a beautiful letter from one of our first-time campers. Colton was a 2nd place winner in the Elks 2020 Ameri-canism Essay Contest. This was his first time away from home. Mom reported “…I saw a different boy walking out to me. …I didn’t even recognize him at first…he seemed to mature about 3 years in one week’s time. …His first sentence was “I want to come back next year.” The camp was first rate all the way, grounds,..facilities,…staff.” The goal and substance of the Elks Americanism Committee is to

promote patriotism, which begins with our children – our future.

Jeannette Buck-Newhouse - Americanism Committee Chair

The West Citrus Elks Lodge #2693, along with the veterans commit-tee, again extended their generous hand to our community recently by donating $3,500.00 to Greg Pelletier representing the new Citrus County organization called “Bridge 4 Veterans” on August 11, 2021. These funds will be used to supply and support many needs for our local homeless veterans. The committee would like to thank Kris Estus for applying and receiving these grant funds awarded to our Lodge from the Elks Grand Lodge. From left to right, Joanne Hep-ner, Veterans Committee Chairperson, Greg Pelletier, with Bridge 4 Veterans, Frank Hayes, veterans committee member and Kris Estus, Exalted Ruler.
