d. Storey’s Way: Murray Edwards College Problem: No link through Murray Edwards College - barrier to cycle movements to the west of the city centre.

e. Storey’s Way: St. Edmunds College Problem: No link through St Edmunds College - barrier to cycle movements into the city centre from the West.

Solution: TBC


f. North Cambridge Problem: Link from King’s Hedges CP to Darwin Green Solution: TBC

a. Cycling Environment (Huntingdon Rd) Problem: Poor quality environment along key route between Girton College and the city centre. Narrow and inconsistent cycle lanes. The problem was described as a ‘hazardous mix of traffic’.


a. Cycling Environment (Huntingdon Rd) Solution: The Huntingdon Road proposed cycleway (under construction)


b. Crossing Provision (Huntingdon Rd) Problem: Poor quality cycle crossing facilities at the following locations: Girton Road Whitehorse Lane/ NIAB junction Storey’s Way junction Histon Road/ Victoria Road junction


Girton Road junction Problem : Staggered off-line crossing Solution: Straight across Toucan crossing


Whitehorse Lane/ NIAB junction Problem: Poor integration with the NIAB cycle route, poor crossing facilities, wide road and traffic lanes, road markings not completed.

c. Mount Pleasant Problem: Cyclists contravene one-way signs Solution: TBC


d. Grange Road Problem: Narrow section of road Solution: Improve road markings


e. Downing Street Problem: Difficult to leave westward Solution: Contra – flow cycling (too narrow)


f. Storey’s Way Problem: Blind bend, parking (coaches/ taxi’s, close to access junctions ), traffic speed, cyclist conflict with oncoming vehicles. The link to Ridgeway is “poor standard and various hazards”. Solution: Parking restrictions at junctions, improve traffic calming measures, close road to through traffic(?)


g. M11 Link Problem: Better cycle crossing of the M11

Solution: TBC


h. Cycle Signage Problem: Poor directional signage particularly to the city centre and Addenbrooke’s Hospital

Solution: Review of LA signing strategy and imporvement


i. West Cambridge (1) Problem: Speed humps outside data centre Solution: TBC


i. West Cambridge (2) Problem: Four-Way give way priority Solution: TBC


i. West Cambridge (3) Problem: Adjacent to Hauser, poor segregation and path overgrown with vegetation. Solution: TBC


j. Coton Path Problem: Street lighting on Coton Path near the Sports Centre not turned on, radii too tight where path joins the road, blind corners, low wall, priority onto Adams Road. Solution: Reduce vegetation to improve sight lines, revised junction geometry, repair street lighting


k. Madingley Rise Link Problem: Barriers obstruct longer wider cycles Solution: TBC


l. The Back’s & Burrell’s Walk Problem: Narrow bridge and blind bend/corner, poorly maintained white lining, tree damage, lack of signage Solution: Vegetation clearance, new signing and white lining (maintenance)
