Dear Family and Friends, I have certainly hit the ground running since returning in W4. There have been so many exciting things happening here at Wenty. We started our fortnight by dancing the night away at the school disco where large numbers of our students and their families joined the fun. A special thank you to the P&C for their hard work in organising and running the night from the music and sausage sizzle to the special treats on sale. Last week started with a flurry of sporting activity when we had both cricket and soccer players participating in action packed gala days. 150 cricketers travelled to Katoomba for the T20 Cricket Blast Day while a team of our S2 girls venture to Pitt Park. All students participated in an atmosphere of fairness and sportsmanship representing our school with pride. A big thank you goes to the teachers involved, Mr Evans, Mr Zammit, Ms Murphy, Mr McGrath, Mrs Griffiths and Miss Harris who battle the elements, surviving the bitter cold and snow to return unscathed! This action packed day was the beginning of a very busy Book Week at our school. Tuesday saw lunchtime book reading in the library, Wednesday our colourful book parade, Thursday was a busy day with both the Premiers Reading Challenge morning tea and, in the evening the Story, Soup and Slippers night and finally to finish the week a story reading excursion by our library monitors and Mrs Halse to the Wentworth Falls Preschool on Friday. There are many people to thank for the wonderful work that went into making this week such a success. Firstly, to Mrs Halse and Mrs Partington for their boundless energy throughout the week to make us all realise that Reading is our Secret Power! To the parents for their support helping in the creating and making of costumes for our parade as well as for the delicious soup provided for the S-S-S night, wed like to say a sincere thank you. Last but by no means least to our wonderful students who participated so actively in all the organised events. The action didnt stop there. On Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday evening, Mrs Partington accompanied our Year 2 choir to the Upper Blue Mountains Music Festival. Wow! A big thank you goes to our students who performed superbly and were a credit to our school. Thank you also to Mrs Partington for her hard work in getting them prepared. An enormous effect by all, thank you! A thank you also goes to our School Captains, Hannah Salins and Harry Daniels who compered the event for both the matinee and evening performances. They did a remarkable job, well done! And Im not finished yet! Our school was also represented by solo performers, Txai Davies on piano and Giulietta Kistan on the flute as well as Raphael Escobar who performed as a part of a guitar quartet. Well done, everybody! That has left me completely breathless, what a week it was! We finish our Book Week activities with a much anticipated visit from the Australian Childrens Laureate for 2018 & 2019, Morris Gleitzman for S2 and S3 today. In the coming month, we see the performance by the Festival of Choral Music choir at the Sydney Opera House, the S1 excursion to Longneck Lagoon, the S2 Planetarium incursion, the Katoomba High Schools Big Day In and the performance of the Proms choir at the Sydney Town Hall. In amongst this busy schedule, we maintain our clear focus on learning and achieving our very best. Thank you all for your wonderful and ongoing support. Finally, before I go, we need to thank those other hard working members of our staff. It is SAS Recognition Week. This week we acknowledge the wonderful work of our SASS team. This team includes our office staff: Lisa Girardi, Jessica Ryan and Danni Allen, our Student Learning and Support Officers: Colleen Smith, Nancy Wheeler, Marie Evripidou, Jennifer Arantz, Jo Griffith, Wanda Hawes and Marnelle Pilla and our General Assistant: Dale Ryan. These tireless workers keep us afloat, doing many essential things in the background without recognition and thanks. So from all of us at Wenty, thank you for your dedication and support. 14 Staff and students return

Proudly celebrating 132 years of continued excellence in Public Education

From the Principal..

Tuesday saw lunchtime book reading in the library, Wednesday our colourful book parade, Thursday was a busy day with both the Premier’s Reading Challenge morning tea and, in the evening the Story, Soup and Slippers night and finally to finish the week a story reading excursion by our library monitors and Mrs Halse to the Wentworth Falls Preschool on Friday. There are many people to thank for the wonderful work that went into making this week such a success. Firstly, to Mrs Halse and Mrs Partington for their boundless energy throughout the week to make us all realise that Reading is our Secret Power! To the parents for their support helping in the creating and making of costumes for our parade as well as for the delicious soup provided for the S-S-S night, we’d like to say a sincere thank you. Last but by no means least to our wonderful students who participated so actively in all the organised events.

The action didn’t stop there. On Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday evening, Mrs Partington accompanied our Year 2 choir to the Upper Blue Mountains Music Festival. Wow! A big thank you goes to our students who performed superbly and were a credit to

our school. Thank you also to Mrs Partington for her hard work in getting them prepared. An enormous effect by all, thank you! A thank you also goes to our School Captains, Hannah Salins and Harry Daniels who compered the event for both the matinee and evening performances. They did a remarkable job, well done! And I’m not finished yet! Our school was also represented by solo performers, Txai Davies on piano and Giulietta Kistan on the flute as well as Raphael Escobar who performed as a part of a guitar quartet. Well done, everybody!

That has left me completely breathless, what a week it was! We finish our Book Week activities with a much anticipated visit from the Australian Children’s Laureate for 2018 & 2019, Morris Gleitzman for S2 and S3 today.
