For over ninety years, the heart of Wendell August has been artisans who craft masterpieces in metal. From our master die engravers, who meticulously hand engrave with a hammer and chisel, to our craftsmen, who mark each piece with their signature, we are proud to carry on the rich tradition of American artistry and craftsmanship.
We’ve experienced a lot since our fire in 2010, but by the grace of God we are excited to open our new Grove City Flagship Store and Workshop in early October 2013. Once more our guests will be able to browse our store, see our master engravers engrave the original dies, and watch and listen as our craftsmen create each piece of giftware one-at-a-time, by hand. Make plans to visit our new Flagship this Christmas season and share in our excitement with us!

The Estate Collection
Our Grecian design from the 1930’s is one of our oldest designs by Louis Donato, our primary artist and master die engraver at the time. Louis worked for Wendell August until World War II, which shut down the forge because of restrictions on consumer use of aluminum.
Known as The Tray that Launched a Business, the Thistle design was first crafted more than 80 years ago. ALCOA commissioned the tray for executives to celebrate the completion of the ALCOA Aluminum Research Laboratory, launching Wendell August into the aluminum giftware business.
This collection celebrates the history of Wendell August. Each piece, made from the original antique iron dies that were first hand engraved in the mid-twentieth century continues our commitment to American manufacturing and creating pieces of enduring beauty. Each piece is a limited edition masterpiece.
