Prep Enrolments 2019 Thank you to all parents who have already enrolled their child/ren for the 2019 school year. If you have not already done so, I would strongly encourage you to complete the enrolment form and hand it to the Office staff, as soon as possible. This will help us with our planning for the new school year. Enrolment forms can be collected from the Office or printed from the school’s website. Farewell and Thank You Mr Shane Collins – 6C We wish to extend our gratitude and well wishes to Shane Collins, who will not be returning to Wembley PS in Term 3. We thank Mr Collins for his contribution to the students at Wembley Primary School. His friendly nature and the strong learning culture that he has built in 6C has been much appreciated. He will be sorely missed by the students of 6C and the staff. I ask that our community joins me in wishing Shane all the very best in his future endeavours. Ainsley Gravett will replace Mr Collins as the teacher of 6C, and he attended the Student Led Conferences together with Mr Collins, to meet families and share in the celebration of learning with the students. Ainsley has been a teacher at Wembley PS for a number of years and has been teaching our Physical Education Program this year. Kelleigh Evans has been appointed to the position of PE teacher for Semester 2. Kelleigh has a long history with Wembley Primary School, in a PE teaching role, classroom teaching role and in coordinating our Athletics and Interschool Sporting Events. We congratulate Kelleigh and officially welcome her back to Wembley Primary School. Parking Signs-St Leonards Avenue Parking Signs are being reinstated in St Leonards Avenue. They were removed for building works, and are now being reinstated. We wish to inform our community about the parking restrictions, to ensure optimum safety for all community members, and to ensure that our main emergency exit/entrance is clear at all times. We thank you in anticipation for your cooperation. Family Contributions We are often asked by the generous families in the Wembley PS community, how they can contribute to our school to support the growth and prosperity of our students. Many families dedicate their time and expertise across the school term, which is very much appreciated by staff and students. We are also asked how families can contribute financially. We often contribute funds donated, to learning requisites, and of late we have been raising funds for the Buildings and Grounds Subcommittee of School Council. We are planning maintenance on our main school building, and painting is at the top of the priority list. If families wish to contribute financially to this project, please contact the school office. Your support and generosity is much appreciated.

Chess Club Information We wish to inform you that the Chess Club which operates every Tuesday after school at Wembley, will no longer operate in Term 3. We are unable to source a chess tutor and are therefore discontinuing the chess club tuition. As there will not be a chess club operating, parents of students in Chess Club will need to make arrangements for their child to be picked up after school. We will continue the chess club tuition as soon as we are able to source a chess tutor, and will inform you once this has occurred. Dogs in the School Grounds Parents are reminded that dogs are not permitted in the school grounds and may not be left tied, unattended to the school fences or gates. This is an occupational health and safety matter. From time to time students wish to bring their dog along to school in the morning for a brief ‘share’ session with their class. Arrangements regarding this must be made in advance, with the classroom teacher. Thank you for your support with this matter. West Gate Tunnel Project Following a meeting with the community liaison team from the West Gate Tunnel Project, it was agreed that regular updates about the progress of the construction and disruptions to traffic and routes to school will be communicated to parents via our weekly newsletter. In the coming weeks and months there may be road closures, detours and minor interruptions while the works are in progress. Financial Assistance (Information for Parents) The Camps, Sports and Excursion Fund (CSEF) forms and information is on the school’s website and available from the office. Families who were eligible in 2017 are not required to resubmit an application. If family circumstances have changed, you will need to complete a (CSEF) form. All Prep parents who are eligible you will also need to complete a (CSEF). Please note: the program for 2018 closes on Friday 29 June 2018.
