Pre-Service Teachers at Wembley This week we welcomed back two groups of Pre-Service teachers, one from Victoria University and the other from The University of Melbourne. It is a pleasure to work with our partner universities in supporting the education and training of our future colleagues. The groups will have a block placement this week and then return to school one day per week for the remainder of the term. Mr K- Literacy Consultant extraordinaire! Mr K has been working in classes across the school this week teaching both students and teachers! Jim works with one class at each level on each visit, modelling a quality literacy lesson that teachers then take back to their class. At the end of each modelled lesson the collaborative teaching and learning team de-brief the lesson with Jim, clarify the learning intent, the student response and the lesson outcomes. During each visit Jim also works with Writing Enrichment groups at each year level. The WAG publishing group meet every Friday to prepare books that have been written by students and classes and Jim oversees this group on his regular visits. As always it is a pleasure to have Jim at Wembley and we look forward to his return in Week 7 of this term. Is your Child is interested in playing Basketball??

PLAYERS WANTED!!

Under 8 (Prep) – Born 2009 Under 10 Boys (Grade 3) – Born 2006

The summer season 2015/16 for Altona (ABBA) starts in October and we already have great interest in a BOYS U8 team. If you have a daughter who is interested we can create a mixed team!

We also would welcome any U10 Boys born in 2006 (Grade 3) to contact me for vacancies in the current season.

Basketball is a great way for kids to get active and have fun. It is a fast moving game that involves a lot of variety, including shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, defence and much more. The time commitment is pretty minimal – one training session a week (approx 45 mins at Wembley Primary School in Yarraville) and one game (approx 50 minutes).

If you are interested and would like further information, please get in contact with our Club Registrar (Tina) via email: [email protected]
