Strategic Prioritiesand Drivers Everything we do links back to our four strategic priorities

We will achieve these through our five drivers:

A winning mindset on and off the pitch

Maximum inclusion

Sustaining and securing investment

Engaging and inspiring our internal and external stakeholders

Developing our leadership

RUGBY PERFORMANCE

We aim to achieve sustainable and ever improving

progress on the field

1FINANCIAL

PERFORMANCE

To ensure Scottish Rugby has a solid and sustainable

foundation, a focus on the commercial

and financial performance of the business is

essential

2TRANSFORMATION

We will act with a mindset of

transformation in our leadership,

engagement, communication and approach to a post pandemic

future

3PEOPLE

We will create a working

and playing environment that encourages all our people to perform

at their best

The story behind our strategyfor the Scottish game starts simplywith a huge THANK YOU...

To our COMMUNITY CLUBVOLUNTEERS who rose to the challenge to restart the game safely – giving confidence to all those returning

To our FANS who stayed with us holding onto season tickets despite uncertain schedules and supported our teams and clubs over the past year

To our SPONSORS and COMMERCIAL PARTNERS who stood with us, showed amazing creativity and flexibility and continue to play a pivotal role in driving rugby in Scotland forward

To our GOVERNMENT PARTNERS who recognised the impact on the game and stepped in to provide financial support to help the Scottish game survive and recover quickly

To RUGBY PLAYERS SCOTLAND (RPS) for their pragmatic and professional approach

To our PLAYERS and the WIDER TEAM behind the scenes whose resilience, flexibility and personal contribution has made a big difference

Emerging from the pandemic as a stronger community

Therefore the themes running through our strategy for the game

over the next three years are:

IT’S BEEN A HUGE TEAM EFFORT

We’re moving into the recovery and rebuilding phase of our four stage Covid plan:

RESPOND . RESET . RECOVER . REBUILD

Looking ahead, we share the excitement at clubs and schools throughout the land. Rugby is back! Already we are seeing more men, women, boys and girls heading to the pitches.

We’ve been reminded of the positive impact the game has on physical and mental wellbeing at all levels. The camaraderie we’ve

witnessed as clubs come back together underlines the wider contribution rugby makes to society.

We will nurture the vital role of the club game not only as a focus for regular sporting fixtures but also as the

heartbeat of communities, bringing people at all ages and stages together.

Everyone is welcome in rugby and we will celebrate our core values with a focus on increasing inclusion

and diversity in the Scottish game.

WELLBEING . WINNING . WOMEN

Our ambitions for rugby2021-24

To serve our rugby community as a dynamic governing body and business

To develop the community game throughout Scotland and grow rugby by engaging participants old and new

To build on the model of the international and professional game as the economic driver for developing rugby across Scotland

To focus on building men’s and women’s winning teams at all levels

To showcase and nurture the many ways in which rugby can improve everyday health, education and wellbeing in Scotland

Funding the Game

We will back our ambition with the most comprehensive and sustained investment

programme in the Union’s history

We recognise that we cannot build winning teams or invest in the future of the game without a strong financial base.

Investment made into the professional and national teams generates income in its own right which can then be invested in growing and supporting the community game.

Every level of the Scottish game is interconnected with each relying equally on the other to grow and succeed.

Connecting the FOSROC Academy to the pro teams and the Super6 competition provides the pipeline of talent and provides vital game time for players

The national team is underpinned and serviced by the professional teams who generate over 20% OF INCOME

The Scotland men’s team is the financial engine of Scottish Rugby

and generates over 70% OF INCOME
