The Wellbeing Service is open to people over 16 in need of support with any sort of mental health problem. You do not need a referral and the service is free of charge.
We offer support through 4 elements of the service: Information and Options - if you’re in need of support and information, or you’re not sure where to turn to get help, we can give you the facts and the contacts you need at our county-wide sessions. Information and Options is a good place to start if you’re new to the service. Short Courses - courses can provide you with tools to look after your mental wellbeing, and skills to help you get the most out of life. There is a wide range of courses on offer, categorised by either health needs, wellbeing, arts and crafts, physical health or practical skills. Peer Support Groups - a safe, welcoming space to share activities, issues or thoughts and to meet people who may have experienced similar issues. Groups may be specifically for: men, women, parents, young people; people with shared beliefs, ethnicity or sexuality; they may be geographically based; or they may focus around an activity such as art, sports, music, walking, cooking etc. Recovery Planning - make an appointment with a member of staff to talk through your personal goals and how to reach them.
Services are divided up in to three areas of Oxfordshire. The services in each area, or locality, are run by a different team. All of the service information in this booklet is organised by locality. Oxford City Covers Oxford itself. with most services mainly run from out premises in East Oxford and Cowley. Cherwell and West Oxfordshire Covers Witney, Bicester, Banbury, Chipping Norton, Carterton, Kidlington and surrounding areas. South Oxfordshire and the Vale Covers Abingdon, Didcot, Wantage, Wallingford, Thame, Henley, Faringdon and surrounding areas.

Information from Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust
About Us
Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust provides a wide range of community-focused health and social care
services to people across five localities from Buckingham down to Bath. In Oxfordshire we provide community
health services such as district nursing, physiotherapy and podiatry and we run eight community hospitals. We
provide mental health services in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, as well as some mental health specialist
services for Wiltshire, Bath, North East Somerset and Wales.
As a Foundation Trust we want to ensure we provide caring, safe and excellent services and the support of our
members helps us to do this.
Becoming a Member
Your experience of local health services is invaluable in helping us to improve them in the future. You may
have a personal experience of one of our services, know or care for someone else who does, or you may
simply have an interest in the development of health services locally. If so we would like you to be involved in
the way our services are developed.
You can choose to be an active member who gets involved in activities with the Trust. If you would rather
support the Trust you can choose the supporter option. This means we will only contact you once a year about
elections.
Benefits of Membership
You can show your support to local NHS services by being a Foundation Trust Member in the ‘supporter’
category
If you want to be more involved, tick the ‘active member’ section and we will invite you to events, send
you our latest news and let you know about other ways you can get involved with the Trus
You can access a wide range of NHS discounts that are normally only available to staff
You can share your views and opinions about our services to help us to improve them. We don’t expect
you always to agree with us or share our views. We really want to know what you think we do well and
what we could do better
You can vote for a Governor to represent you on our Members’ Council or you can stand to be a
Governor yourself when we have a vacancy
Things you need to know about membership
It is free to be a member. There are no costs or charges associated with your membership.
Your care or treatment will not be affected. The person treating you won’t know if you are a Member or
not
We have to contact you once a year about the Governor elections but if you choose to be a supporter we
won’t contact you any other time.
You can ensure your name and your membership category remain private by ticking the relevant box on
the membership form
How to Join
There is a Membership form in this leaflet which is free to post back to us. Alternatively you can sign up on line
via our website at www.oxfordhealth.nhs.uk
If you’d like to find out more first, please email us at [email protected] phone 01865 738536,
or visit our website www.oxfordhealth.nhs.uk which has a lot of information about what we do.

Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid is a nationally accredited 2-day training course designed to give participants the knowledge and skills to recognise the early signs of mental health problems and support someone to seek the right help.
Mental Health First Aid would benefit everyone personally and
professionally, from carers and family members, to employers, to
those who might support someone at risk of mental health
problems.
Oxfordshire Mind has funding from the NHS Buckinghamshire
and Oxfordshire Cluster and Oxfordshire County Council to
offer the course for free and for people living or working in
Oxfordshire.
Over the year we are running courses open to the public that
you can book on individually. Additionally, we are running
courses for organisations, employers or community groups.
If you would like to organise a course for a group of your staff,
volunteers or services users, please contact Laura Epton on
01865 263749 or [email protected].

Five Ways to Wellbeing Simple steps to improve your mental health & wellbeing
1. connect…
With people around you. With friends, family, colleagues and neighbours. Strengthening these connections will support and enrich you every day.
2. be active… Find an activity you enjoy. Go for a walk. Garden. Dance. Just step outside. Exercising at a level that suits you will make you feel good.
3. take notice… Be curious. Savour the moment, whether you are walking to work, eating lunch or talking to friends. Reflecting on your experiences will help you appreciate what matters to you.
4. keep learning… Try something new. Rediscover an old interest. Set a new challenge you will enjoy achieving such as signing up for a course, fixing a bike or cooking your favourite food.
5. give... Do something nice for a friend or stranger. Thank someone. Smile. Volunteer your time. Seeing yourself linked to the wider community can be incredibly rewarding.
