Welcome  to  the  21st  SLF  congress!    The  congress  will  be  held  under  the  theme:  Do  it  yourself,  less!    The  congress  theme  revolves  around  the  growing  demand  for  semi-‐painted  or  finished-‐painted  goods  by  consumers.  Objects  which  have  traditionally  been  painted  on  location  by  painters  or  consumers  are  now  being  delivered  with  an  industrially  applied  coating  either  ready  for  use  or  only  requiring  a  final  coat  of  paint  on  location.  Furniture,  wooden  facades,  decking,  panelling  are  good  examples.  Similarly,  paint  systems  traditionally  painted  with  2  or  3  coats  are  being  replaced  with  single  or  dual  coat  systems  often  as  a  primer  and  topcoat  in  one.  Others  topics  related  to  the  theme  include  the  growing  reliance  of  paint  producers  on  raw  material  suppliers  to  help  with  paint  formulation  and  equipment  manufacturers  to  help  streamline  production.    The  common  thread  in  doing  it  yourself,  less,  is  technological  advances  in  raw  materials  such  as  binders  and  additives  often  driven  by  environmental  or  legislative  demands.  With  these  advances,  coatings  should  become  more  multi-‐functional  and  require  less  manpower  to  apply  and  maintain.  The  papers  presented  during  the  congress  will  aim  to  have  this  common  thread  of  "doing  it  yourself,  less!”    The  congress  will  be  held  in  Gothenburg,  Sweden  at  the  Clarion  Hotel  Post,  located  next  to  the  central  station,  in  the  centre  of  town.    The  congress  is  open  for  registration  via  the  congress  homepage:  http://www.slfpaint.org/slfcongress/home/    Early  registration  fee  is  3500  SEK  (apr.  €400),  lunch  and  dinner  included.    Early  registration  fee  valid  until  2015-‐06-‐30,  registration  fee  after  2015-‐06-‐30  is  4000  SEK.    Last  day  for  registration  is  2015-‐08-‐31.    If  you  have  any  questions  regarding  the  congress,  please  contact  us  via  e-‐mail  at:  [email protected]
