Zia’s Mission Statement

• To raise the level of volleyball in the west valley by providing athletes with qualified coaches and training, high level of competition and up to date training and conditioning opportunities.

• To meet the needs of all junior volleyball players with youth programs for the beginning player, sand programs for all junior athletes and specialized clinics to further enhance a player’s abilities.

• To ensure that our Coaches and Coaches around the valley are better educated by requiring CAP and IMPACT certification for all of the Coaching staff and offering Coaching clinics to youth, middle school and city program coaches throughout the west valley.

• To offer an affordable program that can be worked into family budgets and give every athlete, no matter their socio-economic status, a chance to excel at their level of volleyball.

• To contribute to the total development of our players

• To educate our players on the levels of fitness and nutrition they will need to get them to their next level of volleyball

• To promote the sport of volleyball and raise awareness of the opportunities in the sport through playing, coaching, officiating, etc.

The Zia Difference• We practice only ONE team per court per

practice. While we may scrimmage other teams, there is only one team per court per practice so your athlete gets the optimal training environment.

• Every team has an Assistant Coach. While unexpected things come up for Coaches during the season, we don’t think it’s right for a team to have to cancel a practice. We have qualified Assistant Coaches that are trained and ready to fill in where necessary. It’s not only a safety issue, but it’s a better teaching environment for your athlete as well.

Page 7: Welcome To Zia Volleyball Celebrating our 12 th year of training Quality Volleyball to Quality Athletes.

The Zia Difference• We do not charge for tryouts. This has become a

practice at most clubs to keep you at their club even if you aren’t comfortable with your athlete’s coach, team or club decision. Some tryout fees exceed $200! We’re confident you’ll find our club the quality to want and that your athlete deserves. If you choose to go elsewhere, we’ll wish you well without dipping into your wallet.

• We will not recruit your athlete. Some clubs will hound and even some cases threaten athletes to join or follow teammates to their club. The stress on the athletes is unwarranted and unnecessary. We are confident that once you come to Zia, you’ll want to come back. So we’ll answer your questions, but we will not recruit your athlete. It doesn’t mean we don’t want them, we just don’t want to make their life miserable in the process of choosing a club.

Page 8: Welcome To Zia Volleyball Celebrating our 12 th year of training Quality Volleyball to Quality Athletes.

The Zia Difference• No surprises! While we are one of the most affordable

clubs in all of Arizona, we know club volleyball is still a major financial commitment. We want you to know up front what the fees, costs and tournament charges are from the start. Our website has those costs broken down by team. We don’t want to surprise any one. We are upfront with our program.

• Some clubs will tell you they are priced lower, but if they don’t give you any information

regarding what exactly your start up fees are paying for, or which out of state tournaments those teams are going to and what those costs will be, then you as a consumer, are flying blind. As a consumer, you should demand to know those costs up front. Imagine buying a car without ever driving it???

• Coaches! We also want you to know the quality of coaching you will be getting with Zia. While some clubs will tell you your athlete has made their team, they may not have even hired a coach for that team yet. We think you deserve to know who will be training your daughter for the next season UP FRONT to make the best decision possible. And our Coaching staff is, bar none, the best in the State.

Page 9: Welcome To Zia Volleyball Celebrating our 12 th year of training Quality Volleyball to Quality Athletes.

The Zia Difference• We avoid unnecessary travel. As the cost of

tournaments, travel and the sport overall continue to rise, we have kept our costs down for the past 8 years. We don’t believe in having our lower age teams travel to tournaments across the country as those exorbitant fees strap families financially, and our upper age teams only go to those National Qualifiers that make sense from both recruitment and financial goals in mind.

• We provide College recruitment assistance. Many clubs plan on attending out of state tournaments, and that is the extent of their college recruiting help for your athlete. While we do not guarantee any of our athletes will get scholarship offers, (as no reputable club should), we will work with the athlete and their family to put them in a position to work toward their collegiate goals at no extra charge; recruitment letters, tapes, etc.

What is a Zia?The Zia Sun Symbol originated with the Indians of the Zia

Pueblo in ancient times. Its design reflects their tribal philosophy, with its wealth of spiritualism teaching the basic harmony of all things in the universe.

Four is the sacred number of the Zia and the figure is composed of a circle from which four points radiate. These points, made of four straight lines of varying length, personify the number most often used by the giver of all good gifts.

To the Zia Indian, the sacred number is embodied in the earth with its four main directions, in the year with its four seasons, in the day with sunrise, noon, evening and night and even in life with childhood, youth, manhood (or womanhood) and old age. Everything is bound together in a circle of life and love, without beginning, without end.

The Zia believe too that in this great brotherhood of all things, man (or woman) has four sacred obligations: he or she must develop a strong body, a clear mind, a pure spirit and a devotion to the welfare of his people. We here at Zia use these ideals in our pursuit of athletic excellence with your sons and daughters as well.
