Introduction
We have decided to focus on 2 parts of the Costa Blanca North: Marina Baja and Marina Alta (Low and High Marina).
To help you orient yourself here are the maps.

MARINA ALTA
Having lived here for several years, we believe that these two parts have the most spectacular coastline stretching between Benidorm and Denia.
The region has also truly beautiful mountain ranges with vine, olive and almond groves.
The areas around Moraira, Javea and Denia are conservation zones with very strict rules controlling the density and building heights which allows this spectacular area to maintain its beauty with minimal impact.

The World Health Organization has proclaimed Moraira, Javea and Denia peninsular as one of the most environmentally perfect climate zones in the world.
The healing properties of this climate with over 300 days of sun are particularly helpful for arthritic and asthmatic conditions that tend to improve rapidly when visitors stay in the area for several weeks.
Both areas offer stunning, natural beauty of sandy and pebble beaches, mountain ranges and spectacular valleys. You can also admire lovely villages where you can savor the best of local cuisine and wines.
Thankfully Costa Blanca traditions are still largely cultivated and maintained. The residents resisted the influx of fast foods and western culture.
Even though Costa Blanca is a real cosmopolitan place to live with the British, the Scandinavian, Dutch, German, Belgian, Russian, and many more International residents, you will still feel like you are in the truest of Spanish cultures and can taste artisan, local delicacies and enjoy many fiestas that are abundantly organized in towns and villages of the White Coast.
It was not an easy choice to pick only 7 spots, but having visited many places, we have decided to focus on 3 in Marina Baja and 4 in Marina Alta.
We will start the tour with walking paths in the Marina Baja and move up towards higher Marina.

WALKING PATHS
1. "Camí de les Revoltes"
The path is called "Camí de les Revoltes" and is an old mule track which has been recently restored to its former glory. If you feel energized, you can walk all the way to the old ruin of the castle on top of Sierra Bernia. The views are spectacular. This is a very long walk (several hours, depending on the level of your fitness), especially if you want to walk back, so be aware
It would be a good idea to arrange a drop off at the beginning of the track and pick up at the recreation site at the top of Sierra Bernia.

How to get there by car:
After Altea la Vella on the CV755 road to Callosa d’en Sarrià go right to Alhama Springs. Park at the end of Calle de Colina, where the road goes into a gravel road and walk as long as you want up the mountain and back.
Here are some pictures to tempt you to take a walk and admire this beautiful spot.

2. Abdet
For a quiet, beautiful and relatively easy mountain walk with perfect views of The Castle of Guadalest and the blue lake we recommend Abdet. This little village close to Confrides offers truly serene experience.
On your way back from the walking tour you can have lunch in the village of Benimantell. There are several good mountain restaurants there. We tried and truly enjoyed Venta La Montaña , a restaurant dating back to 1910 and serving traditional mountain food acclaimed by Michelin Guide. Well worth testing!

How to get there by car:
Abdet can be reached by driving towards Guadalest/Alcoy. You go past Guadalest through the villages of Benimantell and nearby Benifato and drive left some km. after to Abdet. Drive to the end of the village and park there. Facing the mountains with the village on your back, you choose the road to the right which is an asphalt road.

3. "La Font de Partegat" (Benifato fuente/water spring)
The uniqueness of this place is the possibility to not only breathe the fresh air but also to fill your bottles with crystal clean water all year around. It may not seem like much, but…we have discovered over the years that in the springs closer to bigger towns, the water, unfortunately is much more polluted. Here, you can be assured to get clear, crispy spring water.
It is also a perfect place to visit on a hot, summer day, it will cool you off greatly!
When you are here, you can go for a beautiful walk along the mountain side. In half an hour you are at the top of the mountain, where you can see all the way to Benidorm and even Alicante and further south.
If you follow the path there, you will end up in Sella on the other side of the mountain and that is a 19 km walk from the spring. If you are an experienced walker, try this!
We suggest to arrange a drop off at the spring and pick up in Sella.
How to get there by car:
Coming from the coast you drive towards Guadalest/Alcoy and after Guadalest you drive through Benimantell and a couple of kilometers thereafter you turn left at a sign to Benifato. Just before entering the village, you turn right and drive about 4 km.

MARINA ALTA
4. Walk from Calpe La Caleta to Cala de Fustera Benissa
This is a beautiful, 2.5 km walk (one way) along the coastline with breathtaking views. The path has been recently made with clay gravel surface so it’s easy to walk on it in sport shoes.

There are signs along the way describing the flora and fauna. Most of the path is high up, above the sea, yet it is right above the sea in front of the houses right on the edge. There is a wooden rail protecting you from the steep slope and cliffs down to the water so it’s perfectly safe.
At the end there is a lovely Chiringuito (snack bar) right by the small lovely beach - La Fustera, where you can have lunch or a drink before heading back. The total distance both ways is approximately 5 km.

How to get there by car:
In Calpe follow Av. Juan Carlos I, the main road leading to CV-746 to Moraira. Turn off on Av. Rosa de Los Vientos and follow that street for a few hundred meters until you reach the coastline, then you are at La Caleta. Park anywhere you can find a spot.
Start walking north along the street next to the sea for approximately 200 m where you will see the path starting to the right.
Coordinates for the place:
Latitude: 38°39'06.1"N
Longitude: 0°04'38.7"E
Next we will focus on 3 gorgeous gems along the route of viewpoints of Jávea, in Spanish - Ruta de los Miradores de Jávea.

The route itself has 15 points and they are all amazing, we have chosen 3 to encourage you to go ahead and explore the remaining 12
5. La Granadella “Village” & the beach This stunning pebble beach in a secluded cove has been named one of the top, most beautiful beaches on the Costa Blanca and yet it is not very known to the foreigners.
Even though it is a part of Jávea /Xàbia, it is a tiny village of its own. Leading towards the beach there is a row of beautiful, colorful houses and 3 restaurants offering fresh seafood and other delicious dishes.

There is a feeling of peace and serenity in this little cove. Since the place is rather small, there is no risk of overcrowding. If you’d like to take a swim, dive or snorkel in turquoise waters, we highly recommend this cute, intimate beach.
The beach had received a blue flag in 1987 making it a truly wonderful gem to visit and relax at.
If you are up for a short walk to visit the ruins of the Castell de la Granadella, the route begins in the public car-park by the beach.

As you are walking away from the beach area, you will see a wooden signpost indicating several destinations that can be reached on the long circular PR-CV 354 footpath - Castell Granadella is indicated on it.
The ruins are the remains of a small fort built in the first half of the 18th century as a part of the coastal defence network protecting the region from the North Africa pirates threatening the coast for hundreds of years.

6. AMBOLO BEACH AND AMBOLO MIRADOR (View point) While exploring the “Ruta de Miradores”, we came across the most spectacular view over the coast and it is also a nudist beach. Whether or not you enjoy relaxing in your birth suit, this beach is perfect to visit as it is not crowded and not easily accessible…
The name derives from the watchtower built in the 16th Century, whose function was surveillance and maritime defense from pirate attacks. The watchtower is located in the Portitxol.
When you decide to take a swim in these crystal blue water you can head towards the Isla del Descubridor (Discoverer’s Island), it’s beautiful and unspoilt, you can admire a variety of seabirds and beautiful cactuses over there.

7. Portitxol and La Barraca Beach & Restaurant Now, to end the tour, this is the place that came as a real surprise to us when we followed the signs down the road.
We found a lovely, rustic beach of gravel and stone with charming, little fishermen’s houses. The beach is 900 meters wide and can be accessed on foot and by car.

It is an ideal place for scuba diving. We found out that the seabed of this area is very appreciated by the divers.
You can also hike near the beach, following the route of L'Illa del Portitxol. It is not very difficult. You can reach the viewpoint of the Creu del Portitxol. Depending on what you feel like doing, you can start by hiking up towards the viewpoint or start from the point towards the beach.

We reached the beach by car, driving down and got really curious when we saw written on the rock “A BAR” and…in fact you would almost have to walk into the water to be able to pass the rock and find that bar.

We did and we found the most fantastic restaurant called “La Baracca”. This is a true gem! With over 45 years of history the place has a very unique atmosphere and serves delicious paellas, seafood and meats. Perfect place for a feast with an entire family and friends
It is open day and night in the summer and on weekends during the rest of the year.
We briefly spoke to Pepe, the elderly gentleman on the picture, he is the owner of the restaurant and he told us that the place had recently been slightly renovated bringing the modern flair to Baracca (we preferred it the way it was, but of course, everything moves on….)
