Being a Community Champion in Year 5 means your child will help…

• All classes with important duties (being recycling monitors)

• Younger children with reading and maths (buddy class)

Literacy

• Significant Childrens’Authors-Story Writing (Louis Sachar)- Cross curricular

• Information texts (Link to Brazil topic)• Myths and Legends (linked to Mayan

civilisation topic)On going focus on guided reading

(20-30 minutes every day) spellings, grammar, handwriting.

Reading with your Child in KS2• At least 4 times a week• Child to write a focused weekly comment about

their reading in their reading journals

FAB – collage based illustration

As a part of this year's FAB project, every year group will be working alongside Mark Oliver from Pencil & Help to

develop their skills in collage.

The children will be creating collages that will inspire their own writing pieces. They will then illustrate their stories in the same collage style, ready for them to be published into
