BEFORE AN D AFTER SCHOOL CARE—

SHERPA KIDS

Sherpa kids Before School, After School and Vacation Care is

now up and running at Cabramatta West Public School. Sherpa

Kids services are available:

Before School: 6:00am - 9:00am Monday to Friday

After School: 3:00pm - 6:00pm Monday to Friday

Holiday / Vacation Care: 8:00am - 6:00pm

Enrolment forms and Parent Handbooks are available from the

school.

ABSENCES AND ILLNESSES AT SCHOOL

Every child should attend school each day. If your child is absent

from school, please send a note to his/her teacher on the first day

that they come back to school. If you know that your child is to be

absent for more than 2 days, please phone the school office as

soon as possible.

It is Department policy not to allow children to go home early by

themselves. If you wish to take your child home early please see the

office prior to picking up your child and they will give you a note to

give to the teacher. This is necessary to ensure your child’s safety and

to avoid unnecessary disruption to classroom routine.

Staff will contact parents/guardians if a child becomes ill at school.

Please ensure that your contact details are regularly updated to

assist with this process.

For your child’s safety we ask that a parent or guardian pick up the

child from the office. Please do not send your children to school when

they are sick. It is better if they rest in the comfort of their own home.

ARRIVAL

On the first day, please bring your child to school at the time requested.

Following enrolment, you may accompany your child to the classroom to

see where he/she will be for the day. This is where you will collect your child

in the afternoon.

If your child is upset or hesitant to leave you, try not to worry. This usually

stops five to ten minutes after you leave. Rest assured, your child is in good

hands.

LUNCH 11:00 am –11:50 am

Children eat lunch with their class between 11:00 am and 11:10 am while

the class teacher supervises them. At 11:10 children then go into the

playground for playtime.

RECESS 1:40 pm - 2:00 pm

Recess is a time for the children to have a short break. During this time they

have a small piece of fruit, biscuits or a slice of cake, have a drink, go to

the toilet and have some play. Please give your child a small amount of

food for recess and wrap it separately to their lunch.

HOME TIME 2:55 pm

Children are dismissed at 2:55 pm. It is necessary for you to collect your

child promptly in the afternoon. Children become anxious if they are kept

waiting. An adult or older brother or sister must collect them. If for any

reason you are late in picking up your child, please phone the school. After

3:10 pm your child will need to be picked up from the school office.

On the first day the teacher should be informed about the afternoon

arrangements concerning each child, eg, who will collect the child. If

arrangements are to be changed, please let the teacher know.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

Cabramatta West Public School

The school has a new school uniform shop located in A Block,

adjacent to the administration building. All school uniform items will

be sold from this building. Days and times of opening will be

advertised in the school newsletter, on the school website and on

signage outside the A Block building.

The shop will be operated by parent volunteers, approved by the

school Principal.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

For safety reasons, suitable footwear should be worn at all times.

Thongs and sandals are not to be worn at school.
