Bunnings BBQOn Sunday 2nd December the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden team held a Bunnings barbecue to raise additional funds for the project and their targeted project of a secure, larger chicken run. It was a hot and long day but the team raised $2245 on the day. A huge thank you goes to the wonderful people who assisted with the donations of bread, drinks and supplies for the day and a special thanks go to the amazing barbecue chefs who endured the heat cooking the masses of sausages and onions. This won-derful support is invaluable to the project.

GAMES NIGHT

On Wednesday 21st November, Jilliby Public School hosted our Family Games Night. Families were in-vited along as a thank you for all that you do to help our fantastic school. We were visited by the Round-about Circus who taught children and families circus arts of juggling, tight rope walking, the finer points of hoola-hooping and much more! Our games evening consisted of some heated competition in the chuck-a-chook event, followed by the hotly contested egg and spoon and sack races. A great night of competi-tive spirit all in the name of fun family-time! Free mini games of soccer, cricket, ten pin bowling, penguin skittles and basketball was also available for those feeling a little less competitive. A big thank you to Julie & Mrs Bowes and their kitchen crew: Sue, Danni, Katrina, Carl & Kylie, as well as the mini chefs, Ceanna, Alix, Nick, Claire, Ellie and Charley O. for making sure we were all very well fed on the night. A great community event, with a great school community!

K/1 CLASSROOM REPORT

It has been a fun and busy term with many laughs and memories.

We started the term with our fun Movie Night where we had a yummy barbecue dinner and dessert, followed by a movie and popcorn. What a way to start the term!

In sport we have been doing golf and having a great time hitting balls all around the oval. Some of the children have great swings and may go on to play golf as a hobby and even more.

In number work we have been exploring numbers. Mrs Bowes has been tricky and giving the class the answers and not the questions. We have been trying to come up with as many different ways to find the number question and we have come up with some very clever and creative answers. We have been exploring area and measuring how much area many things in the room have and comparing which are bigger and smaller. We discovered that using small items are much harder to use to measure with when measuring a big item. It was hard to see how many playing cards can fit on a desk!

In writing and reading we have been looking at books with rhyming patterns and lots of the same sounds. We revisited an old favourite of ours, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and just had to make egg carton caterpillars! They were amazing and loved taking them home.

We explored the land use around Jilliby and discovered how many of our dams and creeks are linked together. We used Google maps to check out where roads and houses we knew were locate and how they are all linked. It was fun zooming in and seeing the cars and swimming pools. We discovered that many of the pictures were older and things have changed since they were taken.

In Science we have been looking at climate and weather around us and we have certainly been able to see changes. We have been measuring the rain and recording on the calendar and our biggest record was the stormy day and night where we had 113 millimetres.

We have had two birthdays with Logan and Amber both turning 6. It has been a wonderful year watching the children grow and blossom as they go through their first and second years at school. It will be an exciting and yet sad time when they move onto their next year. We look forward to the fun filled days yet to come this term with Presentation Day, P Day, Christmas Scripture Presentation and voting for our new captains and ministers.

Have a great holiday and we look forward to a new year at Jilliby Public School.
