In the Catholic Tradition, going to Sunday Mass is inevitable.

What happens many a time is that it becomes a compulsive

ritual without really touching the life of the believer.

This is where many traditional Catholics fail themselves

and the catholic community. We must

practice to make prayer the center of our

Church programs.

In the parable of the sower Jesus talked about the seed falling on many situations. We know the plight of those sprouted on shallow grounds, among the thorns and rocky ground and they did not survive the test of the day. This is what happens to those who do not ground their faith practices on the fertile soil of personal intimacy with Jesus.

Every participation in Sunday Liturgy should deepen our Christ experience. For this to happen we must put prayer at the center of everything we do as an individual and as a community on our Sunday Gatherings. This happens by prayerfully encountering Jesus in the liturgical celebrations and devoutly welcoming Him into our hearts through the Holy Communion. Then feel with Him and refresh our intimacy with Him. We should not leave the church without this personal intimate experience.

Every person should spend sufficient time before the Lord alone, refreshing his/her loyalty and commitment to Jesus, reporting to the Lord one’s personal experience in fulfilling His call to discipleship and commission for evangelization, listening to His Words of encouragement and experiencing His gently comforting our failures. Most people make it a bit early enough and do this before the Holy Mass. This can be done after the Mass also. After such a meditative moment, participation in the Mass becomes very personal. Thus prayer becomes the center of Sunday celebration.

If we bring a bunch of toys, eatables and electronic games, children will feel like going to a crowded park. We have to teach them about Jesus in the church and how we have to be silent and prayerful the whole time. They will grasp the seriousness of the place and the celebration. We must train our children how to make this meditative moment in the church. God bless you all.

En la tradición católica, ir a misa dominical es inevitable. Lo que sucede muchas veces es que se convierte en un ritual compulsivo sin realmente tocar la vida del creyente. Aquí es donde muchos católicos tradicionales fallan a sí mismos y a la comunidad católica. Debemos practicar para hacer de la oración el centro de

nuestros programas de la Iglesia.

En la parábola del sembrador Jesús habló acerca de la semilla que cae en muchas situaciones. Conocemos la difícil situación de aquellos que brotaron en terrenos poco profundos, entre las espinas y el suelo rocoso, y no sobrevivieron a la prueba del día. Esto es lo que les sucede a aquellos que no basan sus prácticas de fe en la tierra fértil de la intimidad personal con Jesús.

Cada participación en la Liturgia Dominical debe profundizar nuestra experiencia de Cristo. Para que esto suceda, debemos poner la oración en el centro de todo lo que hacemos como individuo y como comunidad en nuestras reuniones dominicales. Esto sucede al encontrarnos en oración con Jesús en las

celebraciones litúrgicas y darle la bienvenida devota en nuestros corazones a través de la Sagrada Comunión. Entonces, siéntete con Él y refresca nuestra intimidad con él. No debemos dejar la iglesia sin esta experiencia íntima personal.

Cada persona debe pasar suficiente tiempo delante del Señor solo, refrescando su lealtad y compromiso con Jesús, informando al Señor su experiencia personal en el cumplimiento de su llamado al discipulado y comisión para la evangelización, escuchando sus palabras de aliento y experimentando su dulce consuelo. nuestros fracasos La mayoría de las personas lo hacen un poco temprano y lo hacen antes de la Santa Misa. TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE Y el día 6 de agosto de 1726, Fray Antonio Margil de Jesús, el fundador de las misiones en Texas dijo “Ya es hora de ir a ver a Dios” y tomó su último paso. Desde su llegada a América en 1683 el indomable Hermano Menor trazó caminos para llevar el Evangelio de Jesucristo a los nativos.

Él emprendía sus caminos al estilo de los primeros misioneros seráficos de dos en dos, a pie, descalzo, alimentado sólo por virtud de la generosidad de los fieles, pasando las noches donde pudiera, armado sólo de un crucifijo, un bastón y su libro de oraciones y cantando mientras caminaba. De esta manera propagó la fe caminando hacia el norte llegando a la Bahía del Espíritu Santo en el Misisipí; y hacia el sur, llegando al istmo de Panamá.

A pesar del éxito de sus esfuerzos misioneros, Margil fue un hombre humilde que nunca quiso enorgullecerse de sus victorias. TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION In 1794, a young Irishwoman befriended two widows aboard ship while emigrating to America. They bought a house in Philadelphia and began to live a community life under the direction of a priest. Soon they relocated to Washington. There, the “pious ladies,” as the neighbors called them, were asked by their priest friend, by then the president of Georgetown University, to begin a religious community. In 1799 they established a branch of the Visitation Order founded by Saint Jane de Chantal and Saint Francis de Sales in the 1620s. The unique vision of this order followed a sensible routine, less arduous and more flexible than most traditions, and also accepted widows and older women. Amazingly, this American outpost of the Visitation began with-out reference to the “rule” of the Order. Most of the European convents had been lost under the “reign of terror,” and the rules and customs of the community could not be obtained. A copy of the rule was discovered in 1812, and in 1816 the pope officially established the monastery. By then, some French nuns had regrouped, and they sent a habit and cross to be copied. (No religious wore the habit in public in the United States until after the Civil War.) From the beginning, the Georgetown nuns had an educational mission, even though they discovered in the “rule” that such work was officially off-limits for the contemplative life. In America, the nuns depended on a school for their livelihood, so the rule was adapted. Today, the Academy of the Visitation is a thriving example of excellence in Catholic education, and the adjacent monastery is the oldest monastic foundation in the original thirteen United States. —Rev. GOD’S WORK

We are so busy! Most of us have more than one job to do, and we never seem to have enough me. We are workers, volunteers, parents, friends, and most of us are more than one thing at a me. But which of these is the work of God? We seldom view our ordinary work as being the work of God. We may think that we have to be ministers or priests, missionaries or charity workers, en-gaged full- me in works formally iden fied as being “God’s work.” But everything we do with a faithful heart and with love for others is God’s work. We each have our own role to fill in the world, and many gi s are necessary. We cannot always see the direct connec on of our daily work to the plan of God. But we trust and we believe that God leads us to do what is needed, where it is needed. What is “God’s work?” “This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he sent” (John 6:29). EL TRABAJO QUE DIOS QUIERE

¡Estamos tan ocupados! Muchos de nosotros tenemos más de un trabajo y parecería que nunca tene-mos suficiente empo. Somos trabajadores, voluntarios, padres, amigos y la mayoría es más de una cosa a la vez. Pero, ¿cuál de estos es el trabajo que Dios quiere? Rara vez vemos nuestro trabajo común como el trabajo que Dios quiere. Quizás pensamos que debemos ser ministros o sacerdotes, misioneros o benefactores, que debemos realizar trabajos de empo completo que se consideran como “las obras de Dios”. Pero todo lo que hacemos con un corazón fiel y con amor por el prójimo es una obra de Dios. Cada uno ene un papel que cumplir en el mundo y muchos dones son necesarios. No siempre podemos ver la relación directa que existe entre nuestro trabajo diario y los designios de Dios. Pero confiamos y tenemos fe en que Dios nos guía a hacer lo que es necesario, cuando es necesario. ¿Cuál es “la obra de Dios?” “La obra de Dios consiste en que crean en aquél a quien él ha envia-do” (Juan 6:29). **Sacrament of Baptism—Baptism is a highly sacred event and deserves careful and complete readiness. Please contact the church office (336-629-0221) to register for the Baptism Preparation Class, which is done on a regular basis. Parents must be registered and participating members of our parish community **Sacrament of Marriage - Couples should contact the Pastor (336-629-0221) at least 6 months prior to the wedding date for necessary preparation.

**Ministry of the Sick— Please call the church office (336-629-0221) to inform us of an illness or hospitalization of a family member. Federal Privacy Law prohibits the hospital from giving room numbers, so we must have prior knowledge of a pa-tient’s room number before we visit the hospital. The Sacrament of Anointing is done upon request prior to surgery or a illness.
