Population of approx. 200,000 within the city limits and 1.26 million over the metropolitan area (3rd largest in VA).

Geographically located within 2 hours drive of Washington, D.C., Charlottesville, Williamsburg, and Virginia Beach. Set on the fall line of

the James River and the intersections of Interstates 95 and 64.Climate includes 4 distinct seasons. Mid summer temperatures reach into

the 90s and winter temperatures ranging between the 20s and 40s.

VCU Health System (VCUHS) is the clinical delivery component of the VCU Medical Center and is the only academic medical center in central

Virginia. Originally established in 1838 as the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals, it transitioned into the current VCUHS in 2000.

VCUHS is composed of MCV Hospitals, the teaching hospitals, and MCV Physicians, a group of 600 physician faculty.
