KatrinaEdwards

Katrina Edwards has an extensive background in classical ballet and the Pilates Method. In 1988 she undertook a Pilates teaching apprenticeship at Dance Medicine Australia before going on to advance her training by completing comprehensive accreditation with Body Arts and Science International (BASI) in 2000–2001. Katrina is an avid learner and has trained with many second generation Pilates master teachers including favourites Julian Littleford and Blossom Leilani Crawford, and has studied the classical work of Romana’s Pilates. Katrina is a highly sought after teacher and works primarily from the Aligned For Life studio in Melbourne’s CBD where she trains all manner of clients for conditioning, corrective work and rehabilitation, and is an integral training inclusion for many of Melbourne’s leading AFL footy stars, professional dancers, and Melbourne’s leading Pilates teachers.

Saturday 11 June 1pm Reformer Masterclass Sunday 12 June 9am Matwork Masterclass Sunday 12 June 10.30am-2.30pm Heal the Hip Workshop During this workshop Katrina will present and share a live case study of a client’s journey who has used the Pilates method to manage an extensive degeneration of the acetabular labrum along with a gluteus minimus tear. With specific Pilates intervention and clear programming strategies this particular client was pain free in 6 weeks. Katrina will share the key strategies applied including key principles of rehabilitation such as the overload principle, the importance of tissue stress, dynamic stability and balance. Katrina will share key sequences including matwork options and studio apparatus options for programming. JULYBarre Attack is a dynamic fusion of Pilates, Ballet and Fitness. It’s a total body workout that uses the principles of Pilates and the classic Ballet Barre to create lean toning results and provide low impact but intensive cardiovascular benefits for a balanced body. Barre Attack complements Pilates training wonderfully as a cardio workout. Renee Scott, the creator of Barre Attack, is a former professional ballerina, having danced with the acclaimed Hamburg Ballet in Germany. Renee is also a Pilates Instructor, qualifying in New York under Romana Kryzanowska, one of the original followers of Joseph Pilates. To become a Barre Attack instructor, all you need is a Certificate III or IV in Fitness, or a Pilates, dance, or yoga qualification. Tribute to Carola | Wednesday 28th Sept 9.30am – 12.30pm Deborah Lessen will introduce the theoretical and practical developments made to the Pilates method by Joseph Pilates’ first, protégé; Carola Strauss Trier. Through movement, partnering session, and lecture, the workshop will focus on:

• Introducing the new client to Pilates • Postural assessment • Setting goals for optimal verticality • Introduction to Pilates breathing • Whole body exercise, rhythm and breath • Progressing the client
