WELCOME TO THE NEW YEAR
Happy New Year 2016!
As we begin our New Year, it’s always the time some publications are updated or new items have
been introduced. Please make sure as you are ordering or starting your projects that you have
the correct manuals, project requirements and/or record books.
Every year our office puts together a Beginning of the Year Club Packet which will be available
(no earlier) at the January Leaders Council Meeting or can be picked up after that meeting at the
Extension Office. As we go through the year we can tell which clubs have not even cared to open
the packet and have gone on status quo. In the club packets is a new project list with the publica-
tion number as well as the price per item is always included along with other items that would
benefit club volunteers and/or club members.
We would also appreciate an email or call with a list of publications needed before someone
from your club arrives at the office to pick up those publications. Either contact Teresa or Court-
ney with those lists. Otherwise there will probably be a wait or if the item is not on hand it will
need to be ordered.
Please encourage your returning club members to be registered by March 1 and until their 4-H
fees are paid, they will not be covered under 4-H insurance (the fee list is included in your club
packet).
Leaders, if you are still pending that means we have not received leader fees and until doing so
you are not covered under 4-H insurance and are liable if a 4-H member is injured while attend-
ing a meeting or activity.
As volunteers, 4-H is a commitment that goes without saying and there is a saying that I look at all
the time which is “Children are the Living Messages we send to a time we will not see.”
Below are the new committee officers.

As there is not a current training course planned in Twin Falls
County, volunteers may want to attend an upcoming training
that isn’t too far away, especially since they are only one
day trainings now.

held in Jerome.
February 20, 2016 Shot Gun and Pistol Discipline Only–
location to be announced.
If you need more information, please contact Twin Falls

all leaders who have not already

are also required to view the
Protecting Minors video, and any

ALOHA TEEN CONFERENCE
Teens are invaluable to the 4-H program and community partners
love to hear from the kids they support. Polish your public speaking
skills and learn promotion and marketing techniques at this annual
retreat, taking these skills back to your community. Work with 4-H
staff members throughout the year to promote and market 4-H in
your county. The Teen Ambassador Leadership Kit (TALK) is an
annual weekend retreat held each March at the historic Campus
Grove in Albion, Idaho. It is designed for teens interested in
promoting and marketing 4-H in their communities. TALK organizers
feel teens benefit directly from an intensive weekend retreat with
communication as a focus. TALK produces a network of educated
and excited 4-H teens who are available to help with 4-H promotion
and marketing.
If you would like more information on TALK, please visit the State
4-H website at :
www.uidaho.edu/extension/4h/events/stateevents/talk.
T.A.L.K. RETREAT
CONGRATULATIONS
We want to take this opportunity to congratulate the
following individual, Emily Manker, who attended the 2015
State Ambassador training in late November.
The best spokespersons for 4-H are older 4-H members.
Nothing promotes the program better than youthful 4-H
members telling their stories so the members of the public can
see and hear what they have accomplished in 4-H.
4-H Ambassadors promote the program to youth, parents,
potential leaders, donors, and the general public. A 4-H
Ambassador is a teen 4-H member representative of the
program who speaks on behalf of the larger membership.
Please contact the Extension Office if you would like this
individual to come to a club meeting.

Supporting 4-H programs throughout Idaho enhances leadership
training, curriculum, scholarships, and educational opportunities for all
4-H participants. Your support increases science, technology,
engineering and mathematics which better prepares youth for
emerging careers. It also reconnects you to positive, powerful 4-H
memories. If you are interested in purchasing a license plate, they
are available through the county Department of Motor Vehicles
office.
SHOW YOUR 4-H PRIDE
The Kroger Family of Stores is committed to bringing hope and help
to local communities. They do this through a variety of activities,
including charitable giving, sponsorships and their Community
Rewards Program. You can donate to the University of Idaho 4-H
Program each time you shop at Fred Meyer. If you are interested or
would like more information, please visit the website,
https://www.fredmeyer.com/topic/community-rewards-4. If you do
not have a Rewards Card, they are available at the Customer
Service desk at Fred Meyer.
The FLL South State Tournament will be held January 30,
2016 at the College of Southern Idaho, Twin Falls, Idaho.
FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL®) is a journey of self-discovery for
both team members and Volunteers. Everyone learns skills
they can use for life, including respect, professionalism,
teamwork, leadership, creativity, and spirit. UI Extension will
be hosting the FLL® Qualifying Tournament and the South State
Championship. We are looking for volunteers who are willing
to help kids discover the fun in science and technology, help
capture the minds of young people, have a positive impact on
the lives of children, and be inspired and energized through
their participation.
You can explore all the volunteer possibilities with FLL at
