Motivational Interviewing in Health Care Chicago, IL June 5-6, 2014 Kelly Lowry Consulting Description: This 2-day introduction to Motivational Interviewing (MI) will focus on individuals working to help promote behavior change in health care settings. The workshop will include a combination of didactic presentation, video clips, and an emphasis on practice to help attendees begin to gain confidence in learning and using these skills. Target Audience: Psychologists, physicians, nurses, social workers, dieticians, physical therapists, case managers, behavior therapists, and other allied health professionals. The workshop will be limited to 30 attendees. Objectives To understand & demonstrate the spirit of MI To understand the 4 processes of MI To understand and strengthen empathic counseling skills (OARS) To learn practical guidelines for the use of MI in healthcare settings Trainer: Kelly Walker Lowry, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist with expertise in working in medical settings and with health care staff. She is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT ) and has helped individuals to learn and use Motivational Interviewing since 2009.
