In order to secure your place in courses, as well as obtain your student ID, your tuition deposit needs to be paid (non-refundable). There are several ways to pay the deposit, for more information see the Paying your Tuition Deposit and Residence Deposit section under Paying for Your Tuition and Fees. The tuition deposit is $400 (or $1000 for Education Students). If paid prior to June 15 (or within two weeks of your admission date), the deposit is reduced by $50.

Once you have picked your courses and paid your deposit, you can either register for courses through King’s Online Services, or submit your Registration Worksheet to The Office of the Registrar. If you pay your tuition deposit online, you will be emailed your log information within 1 business day. If you have any questions or if you would like help picking courses, you can call and/or make an appointment to meet with an Enrolment Services staff member. In the Edmonton area call 780-465-8334, out of town call 1-800-661-8582.

A Place to Call Home

King’s Students have two housing options when it comes to being a student at King’s.

1.1.1.1. King’s ResidenceKing’s ResidenceKing’s ResidenceKing’s Residence The King’s University College provides excellent facilities for students who choose to live on campus. Students are not required to live on campus, but are encouraged to consider this option because of its many advantages. First year students under the age of 21 who do not live with parents during the school year are advised to live on campus. In the friendly surroundings of the Residence, students experience the best of campus life: an enhanced sense of community and support due to increased opportunities for social and spiritual interaction. A wide variety of spiritual and recreational activities are planned and hosted by the University College and Residence Staff and students. Two residences are on The King’s University College campus: 1. Tower Residence

The eight-story Residence tower provides housing that is safe, comfortable and convenient. Two Internet hook-ups are available in all rooms. Students will share a large room with another person of the same gender. Common lounge areas and prepaid-card laundry equipment are available to all resident students. Telephone is included. Students are responsible for their own bed linens, task lighting and accessory furnishings. All residents in the Tower must purchase a meal plan option.

2. Apartment Residence

A second student residence, intended for returning and senior students, provides suites of 6 bedrooms. Applicants to this residence must have completed a minimum of 24 credits or have been admitted as a mature student. Meal plans offered through food services are optional. Students who have special dietary needs may be eligible to apply for the apartment residence upon approval by the Student Life Office. A written request can be submitted to the Coordinator of Residence Life.

In general, the residence is available for full-time students only. Any requests for exceptions to this policy must be submitted, in writing, to the Coordinator of Residence Life. On-campus housing is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Students are encouraged to apply early.

2.2.2.2. Living off campusLiving off campusLiving off campusLiving off campus Students who choose to live off campus, whether at home or on their own, are an important part of campus life. King’s dedicated Commuter Program Team works hard to provide specific opportunities for you as commuters to connect with each other. From the monthly breakfast Meet and Greet which welcomes commuters with free coffee and muffins to events such as Barn dances and bowling nights, the Commuter

Program Team works hard to keep you connected, as well as act as a voice on your behalf. Check out the King’s Commuter Student Webpage.

You may need to do some work over the summer to make sure the funds you need are available in late August.

You may apply for student loans through your province of residence. Government issued student loans are interest free while students are full-time postsecondary students at an approved institution.

Applications are available in June of each year. You are encouraged to apply by the end of June to ensure their funding is available for the next academic year. In order to withdraw from a RESP you will need a Verification of Enrolment from King’s confirming you are attending full-time. A Verification of Enrolment is provided by the Office of the Registrar upon receipt of King’s Request for Letter form which is signed by the applicant. You will need to be registered full-time in courses in both the Fall and Winter term.

You can sign up for a pre-authorized debit plan prior to confirming your registration. Payments are processed through automatic withdrawal from your Canadian bank or credit union. There is a fee charged per pre-authorized debit plan. There will be a link to this service from your Registry OnLine services account. This means you must have a valid Canadian bank account.

Monthly installments are interest free if the payments are received on time. Should you fail to keep your payments in good standing, you will incur interest charges of 19.56% per annum calculated back to the date of your Registration Confirmation. Further, you will not be eligible to pay by monthly installments in the subsequent term.

Your first payment, which is paid to King’s, is due on or before your registration confirmation date. The remaining installments are due on the first of each month.

Tuition at King’s for the 2012/13 Academic Year is $320 per academic credit, with 15.5 credits being a normal full load for each term, or 31 credits for the year. Student fees are $300 per term or $600 for the year. All Fees can be viewed http://registry.kingsu.ca/Calendar/CalendarPDF/Fees.pdf If you are paying by monthly installments a fee of $37.50 will apply to each term. Once you are registered in courses you can view your Course/Fee Sheet by logging into your OnLine Services (https://registry.kingsu.ca/students) and selecting My OnLine Registration, pick the term you want to view and select Display Unofficial Course/Fee Sheet. Prior to confirmation you will be emailed an estimate of fees owing.

King’s can release information to your parents only if you have authorized them to have access to this information… this includes how much your tuition and fees will be. If someone will be paying on your behalf, you will need to give them written authorization to have access to your financial information.

5. Your Faculty Advisor Each student has been assigned a faculty advisor who can provide you with advice as you plan your future. The name of your faculty advisor is located on your admission letter. You can also find out who your faculty advisor is by logging into your OnLine Services and select Display my Program Advisor Report. At the very top will be a picture and the name of your Faculty Advisor. If you click your advisors name an email will generate with their email address already fill in.

Student leaders will be available to assist students when they arrive on campus.

� Registration Confirmation Appointment: Once you have met with your advisor, bring your signed New Student Registration Confirmation form to the Office of the Registrar and join the appointment line. Please see below for more specific instructions.

� Residence Move-In Appointment: If you are living in residence, once you confirm your registration you can continue on to Student Life to move directly into residence. Please see below for more specific instructions.

3. Attend New Student Orientation: August 31st.

Orientation starts at 9.00 am in the Atrium. You will be introduced to key resources as well as learn about the opportunities for involvement at King’s. With input from faculty, staff and students, you will get a head start in becoming familiar with the environment and getting to know other new students. The day finishes with a ‘President’s Welcome BBQ’ and an on-campus event later in the evening. You can find the program online in the Student Life section at http://www.kingsu.ca/student-life

Registration Confirmation: Detail Information Registration Confirmation is your opportunity to confirm your registration by signing your Course/Fee Sheet, paying your fees, getting your King’s ID card.

To confirm your registration you need to:

2) Have your ID card photoID card photoID card photoID card photo taken - Your ID card serves several purposes: it’s a form of ID, your library card, gives you access to on-campus printing, the WorkOut Centre, the Residence (if you are living on campus) and it’s your meal card (if you purchase a plan)

3) Update your address and emergency contactsaddress and emergency contactsaddress and emergency contactsaddress and emergency contacts with us (make sure you have your current address with postal code) - Having your most current address and contacts ensures we can get a hold of the right person when we need to.

If you are enrolled in more than 3 credits, you have two options for paying your tuition, residence and meal plan and mandatory fees.

Full payment on or before Registration Confirmation day each term. Students who have not set up a pre-authorized debit plan will be assumed to be electing option A.

Fees can be paid in the following ways:

a. Student Loans: Students who apply and receive their loans certificates can bring them to confirmation. Student Load Representatives will be present to sign and collect forms.

b. Cheque: a personalized cheque can be filled out at the time of confirmation as long as it is dated to the day you confirm.

c. Debit: Interac users please note: Most bank accounts have daily restrictions of $500-$1000 which limit the amount of money available in a 24 hour period. You will need to contact your bank to arrange to have this limit raised. There is also a Debit machine on campus.

d. Online Banking: By logging into your online banking you can make a bill payment to King’s by searching for The King’s University College Edmonton (for specific instructions go to http://registry.kingsu.ca/how-do-i/PayFees.html)

� In the Residence Move-In line you will read King’s Community Living Standards Document as well as read and authenticate your Residence Agreement. In order to make this process quicker you can also do this through your OnLine Services prior to arriving at King’s.

� Once completed, a Resident Assistant (RA) will take you to your room and guide you through the check-in process. At this time you will be given your room key.
