I don't know if any of you are aware of it or not but I was recently turned on to a new website that works like a social network for your neighborhood and surrounding areas. It's Join the free private social network for your neighborhood.

I was encouraged to join up (free) so you can stay on top of things. Seems like a good idea as it sends an email when there is activity in the nearby area. This site helps promote events that can help you stay on top of goings on as well as be aware when things happen (for instance someone reporting an odd car over in Cambridge or someone giving away a free TV, etc). Notice a lot more blue Grace trash cans in the neighborhood?

Want to SAVE MONEY?

We have worked out a very aggressive group trash rate with Grace Hauling. The goal is to save money and to reduce the amount of

damaging truck traffic coming through the neighborhood.  It has been reported that there is one day during the week where 9

different trash trucks barrel down our streets. 9 trucks in just one day!  Grace Hauling is the ONLY company that was willing to work

with our neighborhood without any unreasonable requests.  Additionally they are providing trash and recycling services to the

clubhouse/pool at no charge which saves each and every one of us money.  NOT ONE OTHER COMPANY CARED TO DO THIS FOR US.

Now that we’ve gotten this rate some residents are using it as leverage to lower their rate and predictably the other companies are

matching it to not lose customers.  Here are some thoughts on why we would still recommend switching to Grace Hauling instead of

accepting a match.

1. Grace is providing trash/recycling to the clubhouse/pool – this will help keep costs down for the neighborhood which helps

all of us.  Your current company isn’t doing anything for the neighborhood.

2. Grace is going to provide annual large item pickups to the neighborhood residents on a scheduled basis starting next year.

This will help many residents.

3. Grace is interested in sponsoring neighborhood events for everyone as a recommended vendor partner.  They are

interested in more than just taking trash and money, they want to contribute to the neighborhood.

4. Grace was the company who had the lowest threshold to implement group pricing.  A few other companies wouldn’t even

quote us since we couldn’t require residents to switch.  Some of those companies who wouldn’t bid are the most aggressive

in trying to match.  Hopefully you see this as too little too late.

5. We are talking with Grace to implement promotions when there are enough people on board to offer prizes to customers in

the Vineyards.  Things like Free Trash Pickup or gift certificates to local businesses are on the table.  The more people we

get on board the more Grace is willing to put things out there.

6. As a large buying group, we’ll be able to keep price increases in check whereas your side deal with another company.  You

individually won’t have the leverage that we have as a group and eventually your rates are destined to raise without any

pressure against an increase.

It’s more than just saving a few bucks.  Less trucks through means safer streets for the kids.  Less noise and traffic overall.  Less

destructive vehicles destroying our curbs and cul‐de‐sacs.  Hopefully everyone realizes that consolidating to one vendor who will

provide us great service and contribute to the neighborhood while SAVING YOU MONEY is the best decision overall.

You can contact Grace directly to discuss your pricing options.  You can reach them at (636) 398‐8060. If you have any additional

questions you can contact Keith Ernst at [email protected]

Grace pickup days and pricing follow:

Yard Waste – Monday pickup    Normal Trash – Tuesday pickup    Recycling – Friday pickup.

month of June being sponsored by the swim team. The board was happy to support the food drive. It will be

posted on all the social media and a box will be in the office for donations.

A complaint was received concerning a mattress in a homeowner’s back yard against the house. Terri will take

care of this.

Various complaints about the pool. Krista will talk to the new pool supervisor about them on Wednesday.

Complaint about fallen peach tree on cul de sac. Information sent to Greg.

Committee Reports

Grounds

The mulching will be finished this week. Next year it will be all done in May and Greg will get bids for the job.

The trimming in all the cul de sacs should be finished soon.

The pine tree by the tennis courts will be removed soon.

The sprinkler system and back flow test will be done June 15.

Pool

All the furniture for the deck has been ordered. We are waiting on the last 6 lounges to be delivered.

The pool company is making a list of needed repairs and prioritizing them.

Lifeguards are having a meeting concerning some issues homeowners reported.

Krista will contact the pool supervisor about the following issues.

o The pool supervisor stepped down. The new supervisor is Kristian. The phone number remains the

same.

o Children are not allowed to run on the deck. They will be reminded.

o No diving from the sides of the deep end. Only on the end of the pool.

o A child needed fishing out by the parent. Kristian did not know this. It will be talked about at the

meeting they are having

o Hopefully there will be more guards available to work in July. They are training some more.

o Passes versus signing in. This is being discussed. Decision will be made soon.

o There will be extra guards for July 4 because it is a holiday.

The two gates to the pool need repairs. Mike will look into this.

There is still a leak going into the parking lot from the pool. Solutions will be pursued.

Tennis courts

It has been reported to board members that children were bouncing on the new tennis court nets and older

children were running motorized razor scooters on the refinished tennis courts. This is unacceptable behavior.

Please talk to your children about these issues. We just spent $12,500 to repair the courts.

Social

June 25 is the pool party. Music 2‐5 by Lenny Frish. The food truck will be here 1‐3 and Kona ice will be here 1:30

‐ 3:30. Mr. Huls will run the washer tournament. Hula hoop contest run by Lenny. Lots of prizes for little kids.

Still coming up with games.

registration at 9 am and the run begins at 9:30 am.

Swim Team

The first meet Monday, June 13 was cancelled due to lightning and thunder. It will probably be rescheduled for a

Saturday morning make up.

The swim team is sponsoring a canned food drive. Canned goods can be dropped at the office.

Clubhouse

The sign on the deck is up and has lots of notices.

There will be a staff meeting with the trustees Tuesday, June 21 with the trustees at 6:30 to go over some new

procedures.

There was a brief discussion about a gazebo/pavilion structure over the bbq area. It was suggested to be

budgeted for 2017.

There was also discussion about fencing in the bbq/smoking area.

Finance

The tennis courts were repaired as explained by the company. Due to existing drainage issues there will be some

challenges with water seepage even after the refilling of the cracks. The refinish should get us more years of use

out of the court. Payment was approved.

There are still some capital improvements that were budgeted for that are yet to occur.

The curfew for young people is 11 PM on weeknights The curfew is 12 midnight on weekends. If you see a gathering after hours call the non-emergency St. Charles County Police Department number, 636-949-3000. The sheriff's department has put the Vineyards down for more patrolling on the weekends. Some things we can do to make things safer: Lock your vehicle doors at all times. Several incidents have occurred where the cars were not locked and things were stolen. Be sure your garage doors are closed. Be sure your entry doors are locked. Keep cash and valuables out of sight. Be alert and report anything you think might be unusual to the sheriff. Remind your children to stay off the streets after curfew. Know where your children are and who they are with and what they are doing.

Attention: There is no parking on the left side of a cul de sac. If you see anyone doing this please report it to the St Charles County Police Dept. at 636-949-3000.

If you notice your neighbor’s garage door up at night, give them a call. They

would certainly appreciate it.

Remember the speed limit is 25

Be sure to write down the description and license plate number of any car in the

sub‐division that appears to be suspicious. We had a few unusual incidents last

year and we want to be sure our children are safe.
