Hello! My name is Cindy John and I’m very excited to be here at Serene Hills Elementary. I’m ready to set sail for a wonderful year! I just moved here from Tulsa, Oklahoma. I’m new to the area, but I bring many years of experience, 22 in all. Most of those were spent teaching 4th grade. I have taught in Oklahoma, Minnesota, Louisiana and now in Texas. I have my Master’s degree with an emphasis in reading. Three years ago, I became a National Board Certified Teacher. I have two grown children. My daughter, Lindsey, lives in Austin and my son, Brandon, lives in Tulsa. Both of my children graduated from Oklahoma State University, and mydaughter got her Master’s degree last winter at Texas State University . Both of my children got married in 2009, and I survived to tell about it. I can’twait to launch this boat! Welcome, Ms. John’s Jubilant Sailors!

Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year Fourth Graders! My name is Kelin Flowers. I’m very excited to be a part of the Serene Hills Elementary School family! I grew up in Round Rock and have lived in Austin for 19 years. I graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 2001. I previously taught with Pflugerville ISD and this will be my sixth year of teaching. I have a beautiful son named Jaxson who will turn two in December and he is our bundle of joy! I also have a wonderful husband named Duane and 2 adorable dogs named Mabel and Saidy. My parents live in the Ft.Worth area and are in Austin often visiting Jaxson! I also have a little brother at Texas A&M and my sister and brother-n-law live in California. My brother-n-law is a Marine who is currently deployed in Afghanistan and should be returning home in December. My husband and I love UT football and enjoy the friendly rivalry during football season in our family! My husband is a graduate of UT, my brother is an Aggie, and my brother-n-law is an OK Sooner!! When not watching football, I love to play Wii Bowling, and going to the park with Jaxson. I look forward to meeting all of my students and their families. We are going to have a MAGNIFICENT school year!

Mrs. Kelin Flowers Ahoy Sailors!  I am so excited to join the Fourth Grade Team at Serene Hills Elementary.  I love Austin, and I am thrilled to be a part of this amazing city!  I graduated from Southern Methodist University with my Bachelor's Degree and Teaching Certificate.  I am moving to Austin from the Dallas area where I taught 4th Grade in Allen ISD.  Some of my hobbies include running, cooking, and playing the piano. I love teaching 4th grade, and I am looking forward to a fun and educational year together!

Originally from Michigan, this is my first year living in the Austin area, and I cannot wait to experience the excitement of the Lone Star State! I feel so fortunate that I have the opportunity to teach at Serene Hills Elementary for the 2010-2011 school year. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University with a major in Elementary Education. I completed a year long internship in the 4th grade and recently finished a long-term position in a 4th grade classroom. I have taught 2nd grade summer school and have worked in Kindergarten through 5th grade classrooms. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, dancing, and spending time outdoors. I come from a family of teachers (mother, sister, and grandmother) and strongly believe that education is the ticket to success. So grab your boarding passes, Mariners! You are in for a wonderful adventure in the 4th grade!

Ahoy Mates and Welcome Aboard!   I am thrilled at the opportunity to become a member of the Serene Hills family as well as your teacher!  In 2004 I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Political Science from Texas State University.  While at Texas State, I fell in love with Austin and the Texas Hill Country.  I knew it would not be long after graduation that I would return.  After graduation I went home to Friendswood, where I worked for my father’s transportation company, Sierra Trailways of Texas.  Although my life was fulfilling, something was missing.  One day while volunteering with a local children’s group it hit me, my calling in life is to share my love for learning and instill the importance of becoming a lifelong learner in our youth.  Coming from a family of educators, teaching comes very naturally to me.  My mother, a former secondary teacher, holds her LPC as well as her Assistant Principal Certification. My family is very supportive of my career choice and constantly encouraging me.  This year is a very special year for my family; my little brother is getting married in December.  We are very excited to welcome another member intothe Conner Crew!  Working together we will make each day a memorable dayin which we do arrrrrrrr best!  I look forward to meetingYou and your families at Meet the Teacher night on August 19, 2010. A big  <3 because you’re so smart! Miss Conner

I am so excited to be a part of the Serene Hills Elementary School family!  I was born and raised in Austin, TX, and I grew up going to school in Round Rock ISD. I have worked with children since high school, and fourth grade is my absolute favorite age.  I graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor's degree in English, and I went back to Texas State University to complete my Master's degree in Elementary Education as well as my teaching certification.  I recently got married to my wonderful husband, Paul, and we just bought our first house.  We have an adorable maltese named Bella, and I also have a little sister named Sara who I am very close to.  I enjoy cooking, reading, and wakeboarding.  I am a very active person who loves to do anything outside.  I can't wait to meet you and work with your child!  We are going to have a fun and memorable year!
