09.00-09.05 DAY II FESTIVAL OPENING Quick Day II program run down (Moderator Kåre V. Poulsen)

09.05 – 9.45 KEY NOTE: How To Think About Audiences: Engagement and Delight Despite the Odds This is a difficult time to get people’s attention with thoughtful content in the public’s interest. Audiences are both fragmenting and becoming centered around walled platforms that you may neither own nor control. Some questions this talk will tackle: What is the path forward for a public media organization in this ever shifting media landscape? How do you balance innovation with the realities of the bottom line? And as funding for interactive projects moves increasingly to the VR space, how should you adjust your priorities if your remit is to serve as wide an audience as possible? Numbers aren’t enough, as the current debates over click bait and fake news have shown us. So what does ethical, mission-driven engagement of audiences look like? And how do you create spaces for entertainment, delight, loyalty and agency? Presenter: Ingrid Kopp (SA), Senior Consultant, Tribeca Film Festival Ingrid Kopp is a co-founder of Electric South, a non-profit initiative to develop virtual reality and mobile storytelling projects across Africa. She is also a Senior Consultant in the Interactive Department at the Tribeca Film Institute where she works at the intersection of storytelling, technology, design and social change. She curates the Tribeca Storyscapes program for interactive and immersive work at the Tribeca Film Festival. Ingrid is a frequent mentor, juror and speaker at festivals and conferences around the world. The goal was to give people without any knowledge about classical music a relevant tool to start exploring this rich heritage. We developed a web tool that connects to Spotify to help listeners find classical music that aligns with their personal tastes. We choose to focus on Spotify users: they already love music and via Spotify’s gigantic database, they could hear the recommend pieces im-mediately, and share them. By focusing on what classical music has in common with their own favorite music, people felt more confident to set their first steps in the world of classical music. klarafy.klara.be/en
