Fundraising Fundraising and sponsorships support our
NV Ultimate programming in two ways. One is by providing the resources needed to reach the club’s potential. The other is by providing insight about who we are and why Ultimate is such a great sport.
All players of the team will benefit from the monies raised. Initially, every player receives a NV Ultimate disc, two jerseys and shorts. Practices, social events, tournaments, and coaching fees are just some of the additional costs required and we need help with all of this.

Testimonial – Joel Biere (‘12) Well....As I sit here in my dorm room at Taylor University in Indiana at 12 am, I am realizing that I never wrote one of
these things....so, here goes.
**warning its about to get serious...I really don't mean to have any sort of pity party, I just want to inform any parents who are asking themselves "Is this club worth all my money" to understand just what they are paying for. I also want Java and the team know how much they did and still do mean to me and what they did for my life**
I entered this special club as a 220 lb freshman kid. My older brother played his senior year in the club’s first season. I was seeing the logo he made everywhere so I thought "what the heck, might as well follow in his footsteps." So...I joined the club.
So, here's the serious part.
Freshman year my parents got divorced and a year after that my father was diagnosed with stage II non-Hodgkin lymphoma (form of blood cancer). These were pretty heavy hitters for the first two years of high school. My grades dropped significantly and I hated being at home for awhile.
The only reason why I say any of this is again, not to make a dramatic story but to say what this club did for me.
Java means what he says when the club is a family. When my biological family was going through its troubles, the ultimate family and my church family brought to me what I had temporarily lost. I tight brotherhood, a camaraderie of loving individuals who strive for progressive improvement. Sure we had some terrible moments, like Senior year centrals when we really pissed Java off something awful, or Chicago Invite 2010---I’ve never been so cold in my life. But families go through these troubles and make some beautiful moments--joining A team--beating Amherst--ice baths--watching Java cry at the end of the year banquet.
I could write a whole lot more about what did ultimate did for me, but I won’t---because its now 12:30 and I have an 8 am.
I now sit as a Taylor University 170 lb (lost a bit of weight since the 2009 season--mostly due to frisbee) freshman, captain/co-founder of the Taylor Ultimate frisbee club. We started out the year with 13 guys who didn’t know how to throw a disc and now we look something like 30 guys on and off who will give Purdue, Indiana State University, Anderson and other teams alike a big challenge this weekend at our first tournament.
