GCSE English Language and English Literature
We have been following the Edexcel GCSE English
Language and Literature specification for the last three
years.
The current Year 10 cohort of students will sit their exam in
the June of 2014 and the Year 11 cohort will sit their English
Literature exam in June 2014 also.
Both specifications allow students the opportunity to sit
both traditional exams and Controlled Assessment units to
explore the English Language and Literature courses.

What we do to support our students…
Parental Engagement evenings:
• Year 7/8 Numeracy and Literacy Evenings
• Year 10/11 English Language revision and information evenings
• Year 11 English Literature revision evenings
Revision classes:
• Open to all students in the months leading up to exam sessions for GCSE/AS/A2 after school, holidays and lunchtimes.
English Champions:
• We organise peer support groups for students – teaming up students from GCSE classes to help Key stage 3 students with their class and homework in lunch sessions.
![Page 16: Welcome to the English Department - Malbank School and ...Homework Key stage three: • Homework is set once a week in Years 7 -9 and is always linked by theme or skill to the topic](https://reader033.fdocuments.in/reader033/viewer/2022050314/5f77046663fafb681127ba83/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
Homework Key stage three:
• Homework is set once a week in Years 7 -9 and is always
linked by theme or skill to the topic that the students are
studying in class. We like to offer a range of homework
tasks suited to varying learning styles.
Key stage four:
• Homework is also set once a week and is often linked to
the unit of work being studied in class. Due to the nature
of GCSEs, homework will often be directly linked to a
piece of assessment or further exploring the task
covered in class.
