APRIL 8, 2018 • 2ND SUNDAY OF EASTER (SUNDAY OF DIVINE MERCY)!
WELCOME TO!THE CHURCH OF !
Saint
Matthew!
!What a great joy it was to celebrate Easter with you here at St. Matthew. As
pastor of this wonderful parish I would like to thank everyone who helped make the ceremonies of Holy Week so beautiful and such a vivid expression of our faith as we celebrated the Resurrection of Our Lord. A special thank you to Archbishop Cronin for celebrating the 11:30 a.m.
Easter Sunday Liturgy with us. I am thankful to Deacon McCluskey and Deacon Bangs, for their assistance during
the Holy Week and Easter ceremonies. Also to Seminarian Matthew Collins, a native son of parish, for serving as Master of Ceremonies. I am grateful to our
Music Director, Sally Kish for leading our cantors, adult and children choirs and instrumentalists in prayerful and inspiring music. Thank you to the Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Communion, lectors, ushers and altar servers
for all that you did. Thank you to all the parishioners who volunteered their time and talent on Holy Saturday
morning in decorating the church so beautifully for Easter. And finally, I would like to thank all the parishioners for
the tasty treats, beautiful cards and warm holiday greetings I received. May this wonderful season of Easter
Joy and spiritual renewal be a true blessing for us all.!!

Peter’s Pence Collection!Second Collection Next Weekend!
!
Since his election as Successor of St. Peter on March 13, 2013, Our new Holy Father, Pope Francis has reminded us continually that we should have concern and love for the
poor. By both word and example, Pope Francis has shown the world how blessed are those who reach out to those in need. The Annual Peter's Pence Collection gives each one of us the opportunity to be pilgrims of charity in our world today. Your gift to the second collection this weekend will help Pope Francis to strengthen the Body of Christ, which is the Church, in some of the poorest regions of the world. The Peter's Pence Collections supports priests, religious
and lay catechist in passing on the richness of our Cath-olic Faith around the globe. Thank you sincerely for what-ever support you can give to our new Holy Father in help-ing to make this world a better place to live for those who
are less fortunate than us. !
!The 2018 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal, Our Faith, Our Future, supports seminary education for our future Priests, provides assistance to families in need throughout the Archdiocese, and makes possible
addiction and treatment services to address the current drug epidemic. To watch the Appeal video please visit http://archdioceseofhartford.org/archbishopsannualappealvideo. !
!Thank you to the 258 parish families who have made a gift
or pledge commitment to the 2018 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. Our parish has already raised $ 57,948.00 out of our initial goal of $92,000 . If you have not yet had the opportunity, please consider prayerfully supporting the
many Good Works of the Archdiocese. Every gift will be gratefully received and sincerely appreciated!
