TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME SEPTEMBER 27, 2020
FROM THE PRIESTDecisions (especially decisions about the future) are sometimes easy to make or very difficult to figure out based on the consequences of our decisions. The decisions we make will affect our future, not only here on earth, but also in the age to come!
In the gospel, Jesus tells the story of two sons to explain God's kingdom. The father is a good father; he provides everything they need (room and board) and everything that had belonged to them as well!
The father also gave them careers in his successful vineyard and he hoped his sons would appreciate everything he did for them by doing their fair share of work.
The "ornery" son told his father that he would not work for him in his vineyard, but later on, he changed his mind and decided to work in the vineyard. The "good" son said he would work for his father, but did not take one step in the vineyard...
The point of this story is that promises and goodwill are not enough unless they are followed through and done.
God wants our hearts to be transformed so we can respect His will and do whatever is necessary by our words and actions. God offers us the most valuable treasure we can ever have – friendship with Him in His kingdom!!! And we can lose it if we decide not to follow His plan for our lives.
May we allow the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with the joy and peace of God's kingdom!• Pray for Pope Francis and all those who lead the
Church, especially Bishop Brennan• Pray for those affected by natural disasters and acts
of violence (COVID-19 Pandemic; violence due to racism; damage from Hurricane Laura; Hurricane Sally; Tropical Storm Beta; wildfires in CA)
• Pray for Olivia Svirinavicius who was baptized this weekend; may she continue be blessed!
• Corpus Christi/St. Ladislas had their Finance Council meeting; details are in the bulletin
• St. Mary Parish and Finance Council had their meetings; details are in the bulletin
• Next weekend (October 3 & 4) is the feast of St. Francis, the patron saint of animals. There will be a special blessing for pets after all the Masses (4:00 p.m. Saturday/9:00 a.m. & 11:00 a.m. Sunday) at St. Mary's. Please bring your pets and have them blessed! All pets and pet owners are welcome!

A NOTE FROM DEACON ROGER MINNER/UNA NOTA DEL DIÁCONO ROGER MINNERDear St. Mary Church attendees,I’m writing to let you know that we are thrilled to have so many of you attending our weekend Masses! It’s heartening to celebrate as a community. I also want to let you know that we will continue to do our best to ensure the safety of all of you during the pandemic. For this reason, I’m alerting you that, beginning this weekend, we will be adhering to a maximum capacity within the church building. Our greeters will be welcoming you and counting the number of people who enter; once the limit is reached, they will be redirecting people to our school gymnasium, which will be set up to view the Mass as it is live-streamed from the church. You will be able to participate and to receive Holy Communion. I understand this is less than ideal; it would be better to all be together. But it’s critical that we take care of ourselves and each other, and this is one way we can do it. I hope you understand and still attend with the larger community if you were intending to do so. Please let me know if you have any questions. Dcn. Dcn. Roger Minner
