READINGS THIS WEEK COLLECT Almighty God, you have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in you. May we find peace in your service, and in the world to come, see you face to face; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS Father, your word creates in us a yearning for your kingdom. Receive all we offer you this day, and keep us in your peace; for the sake of Jesus Christ the Lord. PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION Living God, in this sacrament we have shared in your eternal kingdom. May we who taste this mystery forever serve you in faith, hope, and love. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. A READING FROM THE BOOK OF ISAIAH For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there until they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I pur-pose, and succeed in the thing for which I sent it. For you shall go out in joy, and be led back in peace; the

mountains and the hills before you shall burst into song, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress; instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle; and it shall be to the Lord for a memorial, for an ever-lasting sign that shall not be cut off. ISAIAH 55:10-13 A READING FROM THE LETTER OF PAUL TO THE ROMANS There is therefore now no condemna-tion for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do: by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and to deal with sin, he con-demned sin in the flesh, so that the just requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not accord-ing to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live ac-cording to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For this reason the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law indeed it cannot, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh; you are in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, though the body is

dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that dwells in you. ROMANS 8:1-11 THE HOLY GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST ACCORDING TO MATTHEW That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea. Such great crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat there, while the whole crowd stood on the beach. And he told them many things in parables, saying: "Listen! A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell on the path, and the birds came and ate them up. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and they sprang up quickly, since they had no depth of soil. But when the sun rose, they were scorched; and since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and brought forth grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. Let anyone with ears listen! Hear then the parable of the sower. When anyone hears the word of the king-dom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what is sown in the heart; this is what was sown on the path. As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet such a person has no root, but endures only for a while, and when trouble or persecution arises on account of the word, that person immediately falls away. As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the lure of wealth choke the word, and it yields nothing. But as for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty." MATTHEW 13:1-9, 18-23

Head, Hand, and Heart: The Anglican Healing Fund Raising funds for the Anglican Healing Fund is the Ca-thedral’s 150th Project in honour of Canada 150. Addi-tionally, the Primate has recently asked Cathedrals in Cana-da to show leadership in their respective Dioceses for the building up of this Fund. Accordingly, Archbishop Ron con-veyed this challenge regarding the Anglican Healing Fund to the Parishes in our Diocese in Part III of his Episcopal Charge at the recent Synod, encouraging the Parishes to par-

ticipate in this Cathedral initiative. The plan is to have these contributions from the many parishes blessed at a spe-cial festive Choral Evensong at a yet-to-be determined date in October, when we hope to have our Primate with us. The Cathedral has accomplished the first phase of the Cathe-dral’s 150th Project with the proceeds from the very suc-cessful Tea in the Transept that realized over $6,000! Thanks again to everyone who contributed to the success of this event. The Cathedral will continue to bring in funds for the Anglican Healing Fund throughout 2017. Cheques are payable to the Cathedral Church of All Saints, with the An-glican Healing Fund noted in the memo line.

Nursery Note for the Summer Parents and their children are welcome to use the nursery for play time on Sunday, while our Sunday School and nursery are in recess for the summer. Please remember to tidy up when finished. Many thanks!

A friendly reminder The Cathedral and Synod Offices are closed on Fridays at 12noon for the summer.

Outreach to Infants One of our outreach projects is the Mother and Child sup-port Programme at Phoenix House. Infant related items, ba-by food, formula, wipes, diapers etc. are always in need. Please consider bringing an item to the Nursery on Sundays in support of this program. Thank you.

Thanks to you, PWRDF raises $379,000 for famine relief July 12, 2017 | By Janice Biehn

The Primate’s World Relief and Develop-ment Fund is pleased to report it has re-ceived $379,000 in do-nations toward fam-ine relief. These funds will be matched 1:1 in the federal government’s

Famine Relief Fund, which ran from March 17 to June 30, 2017. Using $20,000 of its equity in the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, PWRDF has already supported an ADRA (Adventist Relief and Development Agency) South Sudan food distribution project. Over the coming weeks and months, PWRDF will be funding projects in the worst affected countries under the direction of Humanitarian Response Coordinator Naba Gurung and

members of PWRDF’s Development Team. “PWRDF will con-tinue to support the work of ACT Alliance members and fo-rums who have long experiences in applying community-based approaches,” says Gurung. Churches and individuals responded to the desperate need in amounts large and small. “Having just spent two weeks in East Africa, meeting with farmers, business people, govern-ment officials and church leaders, including those from So-malia, Burundi, Kenya and South Sudan, I know the needs are high and that support is critical and life-saving,” says PWRDF’s Executive Director Will Postma. “PWRDF, with our partners on the ground, are grateful for prayers and this funding, from all across Canada. It’s an amazing show of support and solidarity.” The federal fund matching period has ended, but PWRDF is still accepting donations to its Famine Relief Fund as the need continues.
